The space

Artepalermo is a Bed and Breakfast apartment in the historic centre of Palermo, on the top floor of an old house, without lift, and surrounded by lanes, churches, markets, washing, squares and terraces.
You will live in the house of an artist and you can visit her studio. Your room is more than 25 square metres, it has a double and a single bed, a sofa, a bureau and a balcony. There is also a shared sitting room, a roof terrace, another little terrace and a kitchen, where guests can also cook. You will have a private bathroom, but it is not in the room itself.
The furniture and the style of the apartment is basic with an artistic touch.
There is free wireless internet.
As we are really in the heart of the centre, you can walk within a few minutes to the markets, supermarkets, shops, restaurants, musea, port, parks. It is less than 5 minutes walking to the sea.
The train station is at 10 minutes walking.
In case you come by car (but you don't need it here) you can first park for a moment in front of the house to leave your luggage. You will get a city map with information and good insider tips. We will indicate where you can park free or where you can find a garage nearby.

We are a Dutch woman, a Tunisian man and a Sicilian dog.

We speak English, Italian, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch and Arabic.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Marjolein! The flat is a gem; unlike anything typically touristy, and you truly feel as you're a part of her home. Good location, close to lots of restaurants - although as central Palermo is quite small everything is within walking distance anyway. Would highly recommend staying here! Marjolein is a lovely lady whose flat is as unique as she is :)

An extraordinary apartment with many plants and art works, two terraces and the very charming Marjolein as your host! You are in the heart of Palermo's historical center and surrounded by numerous restaurants and bars, sights and central places (like the famous market) are within walking distance. Marjolein took the time to mark everything for us on a map and was always available for recommendations and tips. She makes you feel welcome and is happy to show you her artwork. As the apartment is so central, it can be quite noisy during the night with windows open. Free parking is available 20 minutes away from the apartment; you should not be carrying too much luggage as the apartment is high up and the staircase not the easiest one. If you are looking for an artsy place with all its charming features, Marjolein's apartment is exactly what you are looking for!

We spent 3 nights at Marjolein's b&b and it was great! We didn't get to meet Marjolein as she wasn't in Palermo at that moment, but shade sure everything was ready for us. She left us a map with great suggestions for places to visit, restaurants and bars. The room is very big. It can get a bit noisy during the night because of the bars next to the apartment, but with earplugs you should be fine. The apt is only 10-15 mins away from the train station. I recommend!

We had a very pleasant stay in Palermo at Marjoliens. She was very friendly, helpful and always responded quickly to our messages. She is a warm and welcoming host. The appartment was very beautiful, artisitic and big enough for us not to notice, that we shared appartment with Marjolien - we felt that we had a lot of space for little money. The small terrace was absolutely fantastic! Marjolien gave us some great recommendations for restaurants and places to visit - they were spot on. All in all, we had a great stay and would recommend anyone to stay at Marjoleins place.

This was one of my favourite stays ever. On arrival the building looks as though it will fall down but this is normal in Palermo. But after you climb up to the apartment , there are quite a few stairs, it's a magic place. Filled with natural light, character and many possibilities of a breeze. Lots of fans and space to relax. It was the high if summer but I found the place cool. The host has her private spaces so when you do come together it's pleasant. She also offered a map and really useful advice and recommendations.

I am a dutch artist and make paintings, collages, installations, performances.
Palermo and its inhabitants inspire me for my art work, and will inspire you too! For example, all the different architectonical styles and the multicultural food markets here in the heart of the centre are amazing. I will give you good tips and information on interesting and authentic places to visit and things to do.
