If you like tropical nature, parrots, tucanos, hummingbirds, monkeys, fireflies, a starlit sky, dogs, cats and music – you might have found the right place in Rio de Janeiro. We live ten minutes walk from Parque Nacional da Tijuca, the biggest nature park in the world, half an hour from the nearest waterfall – right next to some of Rio’s great attractions such as Corcovado/the Christ statue, Pedra da Gavea/ hang gliding and - by car - close to the entire city, when you drive down the mountain.
The garden is lush, you can grill right next to the swimming pool and if you miss the ocean, it’s just another twenty minutes drive to arrive at the amazing beach praia da Barra.
As an extra plus we are close to some of the hottest sambaschools in Rio de Janeiro, amongst others the 1st place winners of 2012, Unidos da Tijuca, 3rd place winners Villa Isabel and Mangueira. This is a space for someone who wants to experience Rio de Janeiro with all it has to offer.
Note: There is public transportation 24 hours, it might be wise though to offer a bit extra to rent a car
We work with the arts and the Favelas, so you might have the house for yourself occasionally. House Rules are simple, feel at home and treat the space with care.
You have full access to the kitchen, where you can cook in ordinary pans, clay-pots or cast iron....I do expect you to keep the common areas clean, whenever you use them, including the outdoor area in the garden, where you can grill. You are welcome to invite people as long as you advice in advance.

I'm musician, singer and composer with 7 CD-releases and tours around the world. During the last five years, I've dedicated my work to a project called Canta Gente Boa, envolving the Carioca Favelas, workshops, and shows including fashion, dance, multimidia and ofcourse - music. The work focuses on inclusion and several issues such as crime, climate, sustainability to mention but a few. We represented Brazil under the climate conference COP15 in my native country Denmark and latest performed under the Rio+20. I arrived for the first time in Rio de Janeiro in 1988.
