Our historic old priest's house, dating from the 1650's, has comfortable antique furnished en-suite rooms, and a spacious 2 acre garden shared with hawks, owls and other wild-life. Daily meals are sourced from the local markets and our own garden.

The space

Welcome to our beautiful old manoir, once the house of the local priests. Filled with light, and set in a 2 acre orchard garden 15km south of Caen on the edge of the Suisse Normande, we offer spacious, informal b&b and delicious home cooked evening meals, using the best of the abundant local produce.

We have two suites, and two other rooms, one a double and one a twin, all bar one with en-suite shower rooms, each of which can be booked individually. For groups taking the whole house there is an additional double room. Altogether we can sleep up to 10- 12 people comfortably. Breakfast and evening meals are served in our panelled dining room which has two sets of double french doors out into the gardens. There is also a lounge for guests to use, and free wifi.

There are lots of books in all the rooms, antique furniture, good company, and a beautiful garden with mature trees and a pond for you to enjoy. All the rooms have top quality organic cotton bedlinen and deluxe woven linen towels.

Great for all ages - parents with children get to eat authentic French food & wine without the stress of a formal restaurant, whilst the kids play in the garden, or perhaps 'help' in the kitchen.

We also have listings here for each individual room if you do not want to take the whole house.

We also run 1 to 4 day cookery classes alongside the b&b - take a trip with us to a local market, forage in our vegetable garden, and learn how to cook some of the fantastic local dishes. The seafood and other produce here is as good as it gets !

Guest access

Guest Sitting room and dining room, two acre walled garden with pond and mature trees, and plenty of quiet corners to escape to.

Interaction with guests

We are always around - as much or as little as you want. If you dine here all the guests and ourselves share a table.

Other things to note

Our evening meals are special, and are very well reviewed both here and on other sites. There is an additional charge of 35 euros per head for three courses, plus a cheese course, wine etc included.

We also run cookery classes by arrangement including a trip to a local market.

We thank you David. David is a perfect host. We had a nice sunny week-end (maybe too short) in a lovely place.

Good location just south of Caen well situated for sightseeing in the whole of Normandy. Old priest's house located by a 12th century church in a typical Normandy setting and with a huge garden. Rooms in good condition which suited our family of 5 very well. David is a nice host and makes excellent food (based on traditional French recipes - sometimes with a twist) which we had on 3 of our 4 nights. Breakfast also excellent with crusty baguettes and good croissants. To be recommended.

We had a lovely stay. The place is absolutely amazing and was a perfect touch to staying in Normandy. We thoroughly enjoyed David's cooking. We had two evening meals the week we were in town. Both were special and will provide memories for years to come. The house is old and has quaint features (running hot water in the sink at the same time as a shower to get hot water in the shower) but those features add to the experience. My dad commented that the beds were just like the ones he slept in when visiting his grandparents. Thankfully the mattresses are not. They are excellent unless you like the super soft type. These are a proper amount of firm. The gardens were lovely and we had a walk about the village of Gouvix. The bar around the corner serves drinks but no food. The breakfasts are tasty and plentiful. Fresh baguettes every morning with a bit of muesli, milk, juice, tea or coffee if you like. A wide assortment of jams, honey, and butter. On our departure we had some croissants as well. If I were to return to Normandy and David still ran this place, I wouldn't hesitate to return.

David was a fantastic host. Giving us a great taste of the local area, by kindly cooking us all a delicious dinner full of locally sourced foods. He went out of his way to make us feel at home and ensure we had all we needed for the stay including recommending a great local market enabling us to get even more out of our trip than we could have hoped. The place was peaceful, yet right in the heart of a beautiful french village.

David's home is beautiful and charming. The house dates back to 1650 and it's maintained really well. The home is very clean, nestled in a tiny little village. We were 7 of us and none of us had any issues or complaints about David's place and amenities it came with. David offered to cook and he is a fantastic cook, the ingredients were fresh and delicious. I wish we'd stayed longer! If you are in this area and you're looking for a place to stay then it has to be David's home.
