One of the few seaside old family cottages of Gloucester that is ready to welcome you for a unique experience. Fully equipped with a gorgeous view of colorful sunsets and a home that delivers a great living space near Halibut Point on the water.

The space

A very large home with 4 bedrooms and bunk room; plenty of beds for everyone. 2 full bathrooms. You will love the wrap-around porch which provides a relaxing atmosphere where everyone can spend time together or just tip back for a nap.

Kitchen facilities include a stove top and sink on the porch as well as a full kitchen in the house.

The inside living area features an original stone fireplace with a wood-burning stove that can take the chill off in early Spring or Autumn. Old wood construction adds remarkable character to the ambiance as well as nautical decor throughout.

Only the back hallway storage is out of bounds.

Guest access

The whole house and property is your domain. There is a small cottage next door and we are respectful of their part of the front lawn on the water.

You have immediate access to great rocks for climbing. You may see some folks walking along here because technically it's public space and they walk in from Halibut Point park. Just say hello!

Interaction with guests

Warm Yankee hospitality comes with each reservation to facilitate your vacation in any way that you need. I'll meet you at the residence to give you the grand tour of the place, ensuring you know the essentials and more. You will have an orientation to the home, property, neighborhood and I'll let you know what great opportunities you have for touring in the the area, Gloucester, Rockport, Cape Ann and beyond. I am available on-call whenever you need via text, phone or need to attend to anything at the home in person.

Other things to note

The wood burning stove isn't meant to heat the house, just to keep the chill off on cool mornings or evenings. Wood can be delivered at $10 for a small box, $20 for a larger box.
- There are no air conditioners. The breeze is quite good and we have some small fans.
- Parking is limited. Prefer 2 cars but we can discuss about it.

This cottage is exactly that: a cottage. It's not fancy, it's not modern, it's not for you if you want somewhere trendy or upscale. So what is it? It's the most fantastic, roomy wooden cottage facing the sea with rocks to clamber over, to fish from and to generally enjoy. It has the most incredible screened porch which is roomy, spacious, breezy and has the most fantastic views of the sea and a sunset which is unbelievable. It became our living quarters; we never ever sat indoors. The porch has comfortable seating with cushioned wicker chairs and a lobster trap table, a dining table that seats 14 and, the best concept ever, a summer kitchen to one side with a gas stove top. Cooking brunch, or any meal, for my family with them sharing the same space and having the most marvellous sea views was better than I ever imagined from the description and photos. On this porch, we ate, cooked, played games, read and watched the boats lay their lobster traps. At one point, we were hoping for a thunder storm so we could experience it on the porch. You really need to experience this yourself! There is a broad lawn between the cottage and the seawall, with stone steps onto the rocks to guide you. On this lawn we played some killer games of croquet (set provided). All we were missing was the Pimms! Our 4 kids are adults so there were no worries about them clambering on the rocks. However, if you have young kids, you would need to supervise them closely. But there is plenty of lawn for them to play on and numerous beaches a short car drive away. We had our dogs with us and there are a lot of ticks in this area (more than usual according to a local Rockport dog owner). Our dogs take monthly medication but nonetheless the ticks got stuck in. So be prepared for daily tick checks (our dogs loved these body massages), bring tweezers, rubbing alcohol, cotton balls, anitbacterial ointment and tick repellent for yourself. If you happen to be a history buff, the cottage has an interesting past as "Camp Rockledge for Girls". If you want to know more, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) 1943 Brochure Camp Rockledge for Girls. Also, a good summer read while staying at the cottage is "The Boston Girl" by Anita Diamant which describes a similar camp for girls in Rockport. All in all it was just our best family summer vacation in Gloucester.

Mark was fantastic. Met us at the house to do a walk through and offer some tips. He offered to get us lobsters and really wanted us to have a good experience. The house is an adventure and something really special.

Mark was an amazing host. We texted for information and he was very helpfull during our stay. The house is very rustique and there is no heat but the location is great and the view amazing. The second kitchen in the the outdoor section of the house is great to cook lobsters.

BANGKOK AND PHUKET, THAILAND:: SAIGON/HO CHI MINH, VIETNAM:: CAPE ANN, MASSACHUSETTS USA. Expanding our hosting experiences to new places!
I love working with travellers and residence owners to create a wonderful experience for everyone. I've been doing hosting and managing properties since 2013, across the world. There are such great discoveries to make in each place.

With my teams on the ground in Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai and the North Shore of Boston, we will welcome you warmly and help you to know great places to eat and explore.

I worked in advertising and research for a long time in Asia and the US. I love being in a different culture and learning new ways of thinking. I speak Thai fluently and OK in Chinese.

I have two kids in college (please support me!) and spend most of the year in beautiful New England, near my wonderful parents who also help me take care of guests.

My passion is investing in others. I will not waste my life on myself.
