About this listing

Modern, renovated flat on top floor with private roof (lots of plants to water!) on a one-block long street without cars

The space

This is my home (which I rent from a UK couple). I am not a professional property owner renting flats here on this site nor am I an "innkeeper". The only reason I make this available, is that I return to the States twice a year and would like others to experience the good fortune of a good rate in an amazing neighbourhood and look after the plants. I have had good luck with some folks from Germany and France, so far, so they go to the top of the list.

It's the 5th floor of an old walk-up building (that's really the 6th floor as G is used for ground floor and 1st is used as the second floor in HK). There is no lift / there is no elevator, but your legs will thank you for the exercize!

Update! Dec 2013- new bed! I could not take that "¾"s size bed any longer, and upgraded to a double. It's a little tighter in the bedroom as a result, but you can still walk around the bed. However, the board supporting the matteress needs a good sanding as the edges are a bit prickly.

Guest access

Full flat - private home and roof whose access is open but it is for the exclusive use of you.

Interaction with guests

I won't be around at all!

Darrick is a great host. He was easy to contact and very helpful. His flat is perfect, in the heart of the acttion and very convenient for public transport, great restaurants and fun nightlife. We had an amazing visit and will definitely stay here again!

My time at Darrick's apartment was just wonderful. He took care that I find the apartment easily and in a good and clean condition. I felt just like at home as I could use his coffee machine, kitchen, and even his computer. The apartment has a great location right next to the well-known Mid-Levels escalator, which was much of a help to get to and come from the city (Central) and a nice neighbour. Supermarkets are very close and Central station is about 10min walk in a great atmosphere. The apartment, although situated in the town centre, lies in a quite environment. The apartments terrace is just perfect for an evening chill-out and big-city feeling breakfast and just around the corner nice bars and restaurants are located in Soho. Darrick is a great host who always replied to my questions quickly and even provided me with a friends phone number in case of any issues in Hong Kong. All in all, I would always come back to Darrick's apartment. Thank you very much for making my stay at your place unique and comfortable.

This is how I imagine the the AirBnb experience was meant to be. Where to begin? Darrick was an impeccable host. We chatted in advance. He sent information, photos, recommendations, and even recommended we be his replacements at a cool event. We stayed in touch via e-mail so he could answer questions at any time. Bonus - he's also clever, charming and funny. You're in SoHo, a so-trendy-its-supposedly-past-trendy neighbourhood full of expats, fashionable locals, and travelers. Steps away from galleries, shops, restaurants, pubs, groceries, coffee shops, and excellent restaurants. Such a fabulous place to explore. And dine. And drink. And get foot massages. Then, stumble home. Prince's Terrace is amazing. It's a rare private street, so there's nothing but foot traffic. In the middle of this bustling city, it's quiet & calm, lined with potted plants. The building is a half block off the mid-levels escalator, which will become your best friend. In the morning, ride the escalator down to the ferry or MTR Central station. After 10 a.m., the escalator is switched to ferry folks up the hill. After a long, hot day, your feet will be so grateful for the ride up. The condo is small, but you know this is normal for Hong Kong. It's perfectly decorated. Very tidy, with fresh bedding put out. A tall shower for my tall boyfriend. An amazing little space, with great books. We felt like we'd been invited into a trusted friend's home. Darrick said "help yourself to anything," and he meant it. He was ridiculously generous, allowing full use of personal products, from shampoo to groceries to a fabulous Mac computer & printer. This saved us money and hassle, and made it feel like our temporary home. Hong Kong felt ridiculously un-dangerous, but also the building is locked up and you're high up, with 2 deadbolts. I was a single lady on my own for the first few days and felt absolutely safe. My only warning is that it's a walk-up - 5th floor. I love exercise, but at the end of a long day exploring, it was a challenge. But the 6th floor is worth every step. It's the rooftop patio, chock-full of lush plants, a private oasis. Enjoy this little garden of Eden. You can do laundry, hang it to dry; water the plants while sipping early morning coffee; watch nighttime lightning storms light up the surrounding high rises. The patio would be an amazing place to host a cocktail party. If you have mobility issues, find a place with an elevator. Otherwise, you've found a steal of a deal, at this or any other rate. If I have the pleasure of revisiting this remarkable city, I won't stay anywhere else. My only regret is we did not get to meet our host, but maybe someday. Thank you, Darrick.

I am French, I stayed at Darrick's home to visit Hong Kong. Prince's Terrace is the place to be!! Darrick is a wonderful host. His apartment is clean, warmful, with an amazing rooftop. The street is very safe and peaceful. More than that, the area is Soho, every restaurants and bar are closed. I really recommend Prince's Terrace for a long or a short stay. If I had to come again in Hong Kong I would like to come back here and I am sur!! I will come back ;))

Spend a week in the most magnificent neighbourhood in the city centre, enjoy a small but modern 1 bedroom {5 floor walk-up} apartment with a private roof, oven and dishwasher. I am not an apartment broker, rental professional or real estate agent- this is my primary residence so expect to get to know each other.
