The Kruse Ship is safely docked at lovely Lorelei a quiet marina in the Upper Florida Keys. Waterfront bar/restaurant, paddle board and kayak rentals and charter boats are all a short walk from houseboat. Good snorkeling and fishing nearby.
For a fun and unusual place to stay and savor life aboard a houseboat safely docked at a small private yacht club, this 38 foot Holiday Mansion will suit you. The houseboat has 2 interior levels which produce about 600 square feet of living space. Wraparound windows permit a 360 degree view. Side windows have mini blinds or curtains. The two rooftop decks are ideal for watching birds and manatees while you sip margaritas made in the galley's blender and cook fresh fish and lobster on the barbecue grill. The shaded lower deck has comfortable resin chairs with cushions. The upper deck is for sunbathing. For month long stays, I require an additional 200 dollars per month for utilities, any remaining balance not used will be refunded through the Airbnb resolution center!
Sometimes manatee swim past the houseboat. Across the harbor mangroves provide a roosting place for pelicans, ibis, egrets and iguanas. The nearby waterfront restaurant and bar serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. It also has afternoon and evening entertainment for your pleasure. A small sandy beach is nearby with kayak and paddle board rentals.
The houseboat has 2 bedrooms (aft section and forward lower area called the cuddy cabin). The aft section has a new memory foam queen mattress. The galley/dining area has a refrigerator with freezer, microwave, 2 burner ceramic stove top, coffee pot, blender. Two ice chests are aboard: one on the front deck and one on the lower rooftop deck. The pilothouse is furnished with a comfortable sofa, matching chair and tv with roku streaming and Netflix. Also a DVD player and Stereo. The cuddy cabin or master stateroom below the pilothouse has two platforms: one with a double innerspring mattress and the other with a place to store your suitcases or hanging clothes.
The bathroom has sink and manual toilet and a small tub with cold water shower sprayer. Most guests prefer to use the newly completed shower rooms.
This houseboat is for active, adventurous people who wish to learn about living on a boat in a marina. It is not a luxury yacht.
Two window air conditioners keep the pilot house and galley and rear bedroom cool and comfortable. A new portable air conditioner is available in the cuddy cabin.
You have the use of the entire docked houseboat. Vacationers are not permitted to drive the houseboat.
The houseboat is safely docked at a private yacht club in the Islamorada. Getting on and off is easy from the front. Just step from the dock over the short bow skirt and you are in. The houseboat is for active adults who have normal mobility, able to climb stairs and ladders. Children and obese or overweight people might have trouble climbing into and out of the houseboat and going up the stairs and ladders. Access to the rooftop deck is by a stairway with handrail that is about 3 foot high with no netting. Railings on the lower roof top deck are also 3 foot high with no netting.
Interaction with guests
Throughout your stay, for any questions, feel free to call Randy on his cell phone. At this time, you will be able to learn more about the houseboat and area activities.
Other things to note
The marina has private shower rooms and a laundry room for marina residents and their guests only. The boat has an outdoor shower located on the stern transom so that you can rinse off after swimming or snorkeling.
The first and foremost rule is that you are to have a great time without disturbing your neighbors, injuring yourself, the houseboat or its property, the environment or its inhabitants. No wild noisy parties, please. Be considerate of your marina neighbors. Please do not drink excessively where you become a problem for your self and others. You can smoke outside only. No smoking inside the houseboat, please.
No dumping of trash or human waste into the water. Fishing and lobstering (in season) is permitted if you have a license and only take what is legal to harvest for your own consumption. Bring your own food and drink. If you use any of the food or drinks that are on board, leave a list and some money in the kitty jar.
Have a great time, but please be considerate. And please try to leave the houseboat in the same condition as when you first arrived.
