Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Kitchenette, super comfy queen bed, aircon, double sink, full bath. 5-minute walk to stores, restaurants and EV charging. Our cheerful apartment is 6 miles from bird-viewing, 10 miles from Columbia Gorge & 7.5 miles from PDX. Through the gate, a relaxing garden with a pond ( plus work table under our giant maple) and secret sitting nooks. Great for remote working, solo travellers, romantic getaway, business stays and longer term guests. Parking at your door (midsize car or compact).

The space
Our poppy-themed apartment is half our home. It has it's own private entrance and is completely seperated and partitioned off from the main house. So you are likely to hear signs of life. It is bright and cheerful It has 3 rooms: a sitting room, bedroom and twin-sink full bathroom. We don't want to spoil your fun, but loud voices carry when the house is quiet - our quiet times are 10.30pm-6.30am. It is convenient to the airport, shops a movie house and public transport, colorful and cheerful. There is plenty of hanging space and a place to put your luggage behind the bedroom door. You'll find teas and coffee, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and a few condiments for your convenience. Free wi-if and parking outside your door if you have a compact to midsize car. Anything bigger please let us know and we'll arrange alternative parking for you. Enjoy our large garden (featured in 2019, 2020 and 2021 on Clark Counties Natural Garden Tour) through the gate but please secure the gate. Our road can be busy at times and can be especially noisy on garbage days (friday mornings). We have an a large tree hedge and we have put up blinds as well as double lined heavy curtains. Please use the white noise maker we provide if you hit one of those noisy nights.

Where you’ll be

Vancouver, Washington, United States

Our garden is private and quiet, and surrounded by huge old trees. You'd never guess that shops and public transport is all only a 5-minute walk away. We have a small strip mall that boasts a Walgreens, Craft warehouse (that regularly hosts events), multiple restuarants (including Sushi, Shari's, Vietnamese Pho, Thai, Bagels and McDonalds); a great little bakery (Larsens), a couple of banks, Auto parts, mailing and copy service, a Supercuts and Chucks grocery store. The latter has a really nice range of organic produce, ready made soups, salads etc.. and a fabulous little health store. (note: it's closed on Saturdays). Opposite this mall is another smaller shopping center with a Wells Fargo, Office Depot, and Safeway which also has a Starbucks in it and a gas station. We also have a Cinetopia less than a mile away right down the street. There is also a park less than half a mile from us.

I work with companies to help them discover the HeartSong of their organization and get their team to 'sing in harmony'. I'm the author or a few books (my latest one Your BodSong: 18 minutes to health, happiness and longevity is on Amazon), a speaker and seminar leader (and a clinical psychologist). I'm a passionate up cycler and natural builder and I love my garden and palette knife painting. In summer I love to walk, hike and cycle and in winter it's skiing...and I play pickle ball and do yoga year round . My hubby, Corby, is a mad marathon runner, pharmacist and makes magnificent pottery. Our work is in a few galleries locally. I'm South African and he's Zimbabwean - so we are transplants to the USA. We love travel and meeting interesting people. Some things I couldn't live without? Family, friends, fun, laughter, love and a garden.

During your stay

How often I interact with my guests depends on them and their needs. I always like to meet and greet guests when I can. I work from the property and keep office hours from mon- fri 8am to 5pm during which time I prefer not to be disturbed if possible. However, guests are always welcome to text or call me. Sometimes we have guest over for a cuppa or glass of wine if our mutual schedules and desires allow.
