Moketenui Station is a working sheep and beef farm in the heart of the King Country located only 20 mins from start of the Pureora Timber Trail and 40 mins from the world famous Waitomo Caves.

Stand on the deck and view the beautiful countryside. Enjoy the peace and quiet and relax under the stars at Moketenui Shearer's Quarters.

The space
Moketenui Shearer's Quarters has a classic rural charm with modern amenities. Enjoy the light airy space of open plan living that opens out onto an expansive deck.

2 bedrooms each with 2 single beds are situated at the end of this living space.

3 double rooms open out onto the deck.

At the other end of the deck there is a door to the bathroom with 2 toilets and 2 showers.

Tucked away in the native garden is an outdoor shower (hot water) with fantastic views of the valley below.

The deck overlooks breathtaking views of the King Country.

Guest access
The gate into Moketenui Shearer's Quarters is at the top of the hill opposite the famous wool shed. Please keep the gate closed at all times due to stock movements. You can drive up to the deck to unload your gear and there is plenty of parking available within the grounds.

Please take extra care on Barker Rd. Moketenui Station is a working sheep and beef farm and stock are often moved along this road and past the MSQ. Please leave gates on the drive as you find them.

Other things to note
Please be reminded that Moketenui is a working farm. Due to health and safety issues you are not permitted access onto the farm or into farm buildings.
Please note that you do have to go outside to access the bathroom.

Petrol and small convenience shop.

The Timber Trail - Pureora Forest Park.
85km mountain bike ride that can be done over 1 - 2 days. Only 20mins to the start of the trail at Pureora, and a mere 40mins to both the middle Piropiro and the end Ongarue. Shuttles can collect you from the door.

There are also many walks and other trails in the area including the Mapara Track where you can hear the kokako.
