Each "bungalow" has:
Two bedrooms with all linens provided (1 with queen bed, 1 with two single beds)
Fully equipped kitchen (stove with oven, full size fridge + freezer, microwave, dishes/cutlery/pots & pans etc)
Lounge with TV/DVD/stereo, double pull-out futon and a single daybed

Kayaks are available for rental to the experienced.
We live on the adjoining property so available for local knowledge and pick-up from train/bus.
Each bungalow can accommodate up to 6 people. Please note that we do consider children to be people :) so must be included in your total head count. Any uncertainty please send me an inquiry before booking.
If the calendar indicates unavailability on a date you wish to book, please make an inquiry as the system will block out the date after booking only one bungalow. The second bungalow could still be available!
The bungalows are quiet, clean and spacious. They are great value. Why stay in a cramped motel room when you can get an entire holiday house for the same price?
No smoking inside, please.
Kaikoura is a designated Green Globe Community, so there is no curbside garbage pick-up. We appreciate rubbish being sorted and provide bins to do so.
Maximum of 6 people/bungalow per booking. If you wish to book both bungalows you must book twice.
Non-staying guests must park on the street and vacate the property by 11 p.m.
It was nice to have the whole unit for our selves. It was spacious, clean and complete. It matched the description very well.
We had a warm friendly greeting.Very considerate and helpful hostal. The cottage was even better than describe do. Neat clean and big with all your needs met. Totally self sufficient.
Great location a block off the water and an easy beautiful walk to town.
The Blue Heron Bungalow was just perfect! My hosts were absolutely lovely and incredibly helpful and thoughtful!
The neighbourhood is very peaceful and it takes but a few meters to get to the sea. A couple of minutes to the town center.
The Bungalow itself was awesome! Very spacious, really squeaky clean, lots of light, warm and friendly.
It was even better than I expected and my stay in Kaikoura and the blue Heron Bungalow was by far the best part of my trip!!
Billy, Susan, THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!
Beautiful home really close to the sea, the city and the Kaikoura peninsula track! Susan is very welcoming and the bungalow is pretty and clean with a lot of room. We recommend that place.
Blue Heron bungalow in Kaikoura was an excellent Base for our stay. Just off the esplanade and 1km from the lovely weather end, it had everything we needed. The loungr/kitchen /diner was well equipped and had everything to enable us to cook meals. Having washing machine in the second toilet was a bonus too. The rooms were light and airy and this made for a stress free few days.
We stayed here three nights. It's a lovely big two bedroom cottage with everything we needed and very clean. Our only complaints are that the sofa was very uncomfortable to sit on and both it and the master bed squeaked every time you moved.

Billy, my Kiwi husband, and I have lived in Kaikoura since 2001. Ten years earlier on a NZ cycling trip, we decided Kaikoura should eventually be our home. In the past 30 years we've lived in W. Africa, the U.S., the Middle East, Europe and S.E. Asia. We still enjoy traveling as much as possible, usually by bicycle. However, Kaikoura has indeed become our home and we'd love to help you enjoy it.
