This is a great place to base yourself while you explore the fun and craziness of Tokyo. The apartment is smallish by Western standards but was perfect when we needed to come back and rest. Shimokitazawa is also a great local spot for eating, drinking and shopping so if you want to stay close to home and still have fun you can. Highly recommended.

The host was very responsive. The location is perfect, super close to a fun part of town (think Brick Lane in London) and well connected to public transport but mostly quiet. The apartment is small but fine for a few days with two people. Checkin and checkout are super easy. I was a bit disappointed as I was going by all the great reviews on Airbnb. It’s obvious that the apartment was cleaned properly before we came, but the damp problem in the bathroom that was mentioned by someone in September hasn’t been dealt with. The bathroom door, the cement between the tiling, the silicon all have black mould in them, which I wouldn’t have minded so much if the shower curtain wasn’t also covered in it. The paper lamp in the apartment was torn - presumably by a previous guest. The mould and the lamp just made the apartment feel a little bit unloved, so while our overall stay was fine I probably wouldn’t recommend it. If the host does some maintenance on the place I’m sure it could be great again.

Stayed here for 5 night and it is excellent value and a great place for exploring Tokyo while at the same time being able to hide out in a quiet area. Shimokitazawa is a wonderful little neighborhood with good train connection to shinjuku and shibuya. The apartment is what it is, for two people it works, but i would not recommend it for 4 People. Easy, convenient stay just as airbnb should be!

Overall I would not recommend this specific apartment but the location in Shimokitazawa is PERFECT for visiting Tokyo -- close to public transit that will take you anywhere but not crazy and loud. Very Bohemian type vibe in the neighborhood with lots of bars, restaurants and nightlife! I'm a bit disappointed in our stay as I specifically chose this apartment based off the VIP ranking and everyone's reviews. Our first night we encountered cockroaches in the apartment and the only reply I got from host was sorry and did you make sure you killed it. We had to go out and buy bug killer after 24hrs of travel which was not fun plus it didn't help us sleep very well!! The apartment was quite dated and dirty (very dirty shag carpet, mold everywhere) and not very accommodating (only 2 teeny tiny towels for our entire 6 day trip and no flat sheet) Also an iron was listed as an amenity but when I reached out to the host he just said 'sorry, broken' which was unfortunate as we had plans at many nice restaurants and I needed to iron my husband's dress shirts so we had to run out to the store to buy one. I carefully choose places for specific amenities like laundry or parking or hair dryer so it's essential the listing is accurate.

Location of this place is perfect! Quiet and safe neighbourhood, just a 3-min walk to streets and streets of shops - from cafes to vintage shops, shoe shops, souvenir shops - you name it, they have it. Also just a few mins walk to Shimokitazawa subway station. Room is good for 2 people. 3 maybe possible but it'll be a squeeze. Host was always very responsive and it was nice of him to allow us a slightly later check out of 2 hours.

Our stay at Eiichiro's apartment was perfect. The neighborhood was our favorite in Tokyo and well connected with the main spots in the city. The flat is as shown in the pictures and has everything you need. Eiichiro gave us all the instructions making our arrival and stay very easy. We would totally recommend everyone to stay here!
