Away from all the hustle and bustle of Chiang Mai city come and experience the unique and authentic lifestyle of a Thai villager, which provides a chance to interact with the extremely friendly locals and help a charity fund the education of Children

The space

Children and Youth Development Association (CYDA) is a charity organisation operating in Chiang Mai, with a main purpose of supporting disadvantaged children and improving their quality of life. CYDA wants to give the children the opportunity to receive higher education, learn about agriculture, ecology and environment conservation, as well as striving to promote Thai culture and traditions.

The CYDA GuestHouse has been developed to provide an insight into the everyday life of a Thai rural village. Our guests get to mix with the local community and visit the amazing temples nearby without a tourist in sight.

The GuestHouse provides traditional home cooked Thai cuisine with fresh ingredients from our organic farm, whilst also providing a real insight into Thai culture in a way that you wouldn't experience anywhere else in Chang Mai.

CYDA aims to work with the local community to provide an authentic and memorable experience for all of our guests. All proceeds from the GuestHouse go towards CYDA's charity programmes.

Based around 20-25 minutes from Chiang Mai city center, CYDA's GuestHouse is located in a village located in the Sarapee District. Although away from the tourists and the hustle and bustle of Chiang Mai, the GuestHouse is still within close proximity to all the major tourists attractions that surround the Chiang Mai area.

Guest access

The main GuestHouse is built as a typical traditional stilt Thai home; it has two rooms available for our guests which can hold a maximum of four people in each room. The floors and ceiling are fitted with hand made woven teak and the rooms are decorated with handicrafts made by the local villagers. There is also a balcony with a garden view where our guests can relax with a cold drink.

Downstairs we have a communal area where our guests eat and can purchase drinks. We also have table tennis, darts and other games available for our guests to past the time when they are not doing other activities. Feel free to chill out in this area along with our two dogs and cat, who have also made CYDA their home.

Interaction with guests

Experience the life of a Thai villager, which also provides a chance to interact with the extremely friendly locals. The locals and the young people who live at CYDA often come and interact with new guests, which also provides an opportunity for them to practice their English.

Other things to note

If you want a holiday that involves late night parties and bars there are more suitable places in the Chiang Mai city center. However, if you are looking to experience a mixture of a traditional lifestyle with adventure in a rural setting, and at the same time help a local community, then CYDA is the perfect choice. Come join us at the CYDA GuestHouse and experience this unique and authentic opportunity.

All income from the GuestHouse will support CYDA program costs.

It was great experience for us to stay out of City.We enjoyed some short trips by motor bike, bicycles and their car tour with Mr.Son.The hosts are very kind for us for everything! Break fast was yummy and they give us a lot of advice to see around the guest house. Their dogs and cats are friendly also! It's good for us to know their voluntary project and life of local people.

Response from Cyda:
Thank you Clara and Jordi for being such great guests, involving yourself with our organization and sharing great experiences with locals with respect and willingness to learn. We really hope you take back and share all the great experiences regarding visiting the children at the school nearby, the trips and sightseeing, the Muay Thai fight and the rest of activities you had the chance to join with us! :)

We had a wonderful time at Cyda's. The accomodation was very clean and cozy and was provided with everything that you need during your stay (even a mosquito net for the bed). We really enjoyed the decoration of our room. The restroom and shower are separate from the bedroom and downstairs. We had a nice sitting area in front of our room. Our Host, Noi, was the most helpful und caring person we could have wished for. She was always around and helped us a lot. Neglecting the language barrier (which can be solved with (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) translator), she did everything she could to make our stay as pleasant as possible. During our stay at Cyda, there was also a volunteer called Noor. She supported us and gave us a lot of recommendations and even took us to a Muay Thay fight in Chiang Mai. Cyda is located around 25 minutes outside of Chiang Mai in a small village. For everyone who would like to experience the Thai culture, this is the perfect place to go. For everyone who is searching for nightlife and citylife we would recommend staying in Chiang Mai. Nevertheless, Cyda also provides motorcycles and bicycles, which can be used to explore the area. All in all, it was the perfect place to relax while discovering Chiang Mai and its near surroundings. A big thank you to the whole Cyda-team. We would definitely come again! :)
