My house has huge windows and ceilings. There is lots of light when inside. Plenty going on in this area and my house is centrally located too. I have a large country kitchen and dining room. There is a washer and dryer. Downtown is blocks away. I've opted to not take pets, after a few experiences that didn't work out.
My house is quite unique, a relaxing pleasant place to stay. No place is perfect, but I've come a LONG way with my house. I wish I had photos of what it looked like when I first moved in! Please note that typically I am in my house. I keep to myself in my upstairs bedroom, but unlike some of the other Air BnB offerings guests share the house. That said, I am preparing an adjacent cottage which will be available probably within the next year for complete privacy. That will have two bedrooms each with its own queen bed, a great room, kitchen and full bath. This would be excellent for small reunions and family get togethers.
You can enter through the back or front door. I key is provided to the back door. There is ample parking on the left side of the house.
Interaction with guests
As I've mentioned in a number of places here, I am usually around because I work out of my home. Just clean up after yourself and keep an eye on anything you are cooking. I have an electric range and two ovens....three smoke detectors too. I have a washer and dryer you are welcome to use. Of interest is my parakeet coop in the backyard and two aquariums. I will have chickens in the backyard soon, for the fresh eggs, a patio deck at some point and a separate guest house for larger parties who need privacy.
Other things to note
White Street is rather busy out front and the train goes by in the backyard. I never hear it if I am already asleep and there is a good chance you won't either. But if you are up and on the internet, you probably will hear it! I am in the process of putting in a parakeet/finch aviary out in my backyard. One of the front rooms contains some six parakeets, but as I mentioned, they will be heading out to the backyard in the near future. I also have two aquariums that are very quiet. The fish make a slight sucking sound when I feed them a fly or moth, but that's about it! The aquariums will most likely not be there between June 22 and October (EMAIL HIDDEN)ing are a newly remodeled guest house with room to sleep at least four more and a tree house on the corner of my property for those who really want to escape the modern world :)
I have tried to turn off the pets allowed feature....but have had no luck. I prefer not to have pets coming here at this time. I'm sorry about that, but in the past I've noticed people having their pets up on the bed with them. I have brand new beds in my house. When you are in your house, you are welcome to sleep with your pets! Just not here....I do have an aviary out in my backyard and in cold weather my parakeets are in the front room of my house. They are quiet at night & during the day, weather permitting they are outside so you won't even hear them....thanks!!!
As I mentioned in another section, please come and stay, but know I am not here to talk to you all day or cook for you all day/feed you -- aside from breakfast. I work on my articles and books and time is money for me, as it is for us all. I don't think there is a more accommodating person out there than me. That said, please respect my time and space. I don't have a problem with pets, within reason. So far, just tiny dogs have stayed and a parrot one evening that woke us all up in the morning :) If you have to smoke, please do that outside; I have a huge backyard and PLEASE clean up the cigarette butts -- don't leave them for me to clean up.
I'm a freelance writer and novelist with a huge house built in 1905. I have plenty of space. The house is a work in progress, but very lovely and right in the middle of things here in Rock Hill. I'm easy-going, love to laugh (who doesn't!) and since I am a writer I am interested in everyone and what they do for a living. That's my bread and butter as I do write LOTS of articles for trade publications. I like St. Augustine, FL, Nantucket, MA, Charleston, SC and the Asheville, NC area. My favorite book is "The Rest is Silence" by ME! I love shows, just about all music and like all kinds of shows. I am new at this so I have no idea how things will work out. My bathroom upstairs is the only one working....I'm getting the downstairs one redone. The bathroom upstairs has a tub, one of those old time ones. I'll be glad to make you French toast for breakfast in the morning! One of my favorite mottos is: Life is a journey/ it's not the destination as much as the joy you take in getting there... also, play your life forward...yesterday is gone, tomorrow may never come -- all we have is now.
All that said, please understand what BnB stands for, bed & breakfast. I offer breakfast according to your needs, just let me know what you would like for breakfast, if anything. Many folks do their own thing which is fine too. As far as the rest of the day, please have something to do, some point for being here.
I can't talk to you all day, am not equipped or required to feed you or stock my kitchen for meeting your food needs all day either. I love to chat and converse and will even offer you a beer or some wine in the evening if you'd like.
But I'm a freelancer. My time is valuable, and though I tend to be a giving person in the extreme and do love to help people, I can't help you figure out what you want to do with your life :) Again, please have a clear cut idea of what you are traveling here for. And it does help me to know that. I don't have a problem with communication. The vast majority of my hosting experiences have been mutually beneficial, fun for guests and fun for me -- the way it should be! Thanks & looking forward to meeting you should you need to visit the Charlotte -- Rock Hill area.
