Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
Glamping (Luxury Camping) in a bountiful Permaculture garden with over 50 fruit & nut trees. Enjoy a private & peaceful custom timber-framed Tent with comfortable Queen bed amongst the gardens, flowers, trees, native birds, & chickens. You will relax in your own self-contained zone in lush surroundings right next to our stream. Only one tent on the property. Let Nature Embrace you! We are 600 meters from the beach with Kahurangi and Abel Tasman National Parks at your exploration doorstep.

The space
Come enjoy some luxury camping like you have never experienced before!. This custom tent has been built upon a deck, has an insulated wooden Eucalyptus floor, and natural Lawson Cypress internal timber framing. The internal tent is 3m by 5m with a 2m covered verandah area. The deck and tent enjoy plentiful sunlight! Just 3 meters from the tent are a private gas-califont heated Balinese style outdoor shower and compost toilet facilities. There are 2 large windows on either side a BIG front door which opens up on the deck all complete with bug mesh screens.

Dream away in a the comfy Queen bed complete with electric blankets should you need them on chilly nights. There is a futon sofa (very comfy) within the tent that pulls out to a double bed for up to 2 additional guests. There is an overhead Infrared Heater that warms the tent to cosy as.

If you are only 2 guests and you need both beds set up so you can each have your own, then there will be an extra $25 cleaning fee for your stay. There is no way for me to put this into Air BnB settings so I am stating it here. This can be paid in cash upon arrival. If you have mobility issues then our accommodation is not the best fit for you.

There are tea and coffee facilities and goodies provided as part of your stay. Kitchen gear is also supplied should you decide to cook in our covered outdoor kitchen area. Come with an open mind and be ready to connect to Earth and nature. Enjoy our slice of Golden Bay Heaven!

The Glamping Tent is located on the same property as Kiwiana Caravan (also listed on Air BnB). We can accomodate larger groups with the caravan and the tent. This can be perfect for a bit of space from the kids (or the in-laws). Discounts can be offered for bookings of both the Tent and the caravan together. We (your hosts) also live on the property about 35 meters from the Tent area. There are lots of trees and greenery between the dwellings so plenty of privacy. Again, there is only 1 tent on the property and a caravan in it's own self-contained separate zone.

This beautiful and incredible land has been created and managed as a full Permaculture organic garden and self-sufficiency lifestyle block. Permaculture is the conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive systems which have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems. It is the harmonious integration of the landscape with the people which provides their food, energy, shelter and other material and non-material needs in a sustainable way. Permaculture integrates people into Nature's design. Spending time here allows you to be embraced and nurtured by this natural design. You can be at one with the elements as you enjoy your breakfast with the sun shining upon you in the outdoor picnic area. We also often have abundant fruit and produce and certain times of year that we love to share with our guests.

We live on half an acre of luscious soil with our very own stream which runs year round. We aim to grow as much of our own food as possible. We have fruit and nut trees: peach, apple, plum, grapes, nashi, hazelnut, walnut, avocado, lemon, macadamia, feijoa, fig, kiwifruit, mandarin, orange, and pear. We have our own chickens for fresh eggs. We have beehives that pollinate the fruit and nut trees and provide us with the most delicious honey! As fruit is in season, you can pick your own straight from the tree for the BEST-tasting, freshest fruit you have ever had. You can nibble your way through the gardens and enjoy a meditative sit on the sea view deck taking in the multitude of natural smells and sounds.

The Glamping Tent is a professionally designed and manufactured 5 by 3 meter canvas tent with a 2 meter covered verandah. You will lay your head to rest next to a babbling stream as the sound of the water gently lulls you to sleep. Abundant Native bird song will awake you in the morning within the natural rhythms of daybreak. We have tui, kereru, thrush, blackbird, bellbird, piwakawaka, weka, kea, and more. The morning and evening sun glow through the tent and warm it throughout the day. There is a large main door and 2 windows, all complete with insect screens. Your Glamping tent includes a Queen size bed, chairs, shelves, dresser, mini-fridge, futon couch, as well as, electricity providing charging facilities if necessary. There is an electric blanket on the bed for extra warmth should you need it. There is a futon couch that pulls out to a double bed for additional guests. It MAY be possible to add an extra mattress onto the floor beside the queen bed for a 5th person/kid, but it would be pretty tight. Tea and coffee making facilities and goodies are offered as part of your Glamping experience.

The Glamping Tent very comfortably accommodates 2 adults, with space for up to 2 additional children or adults, making it the perfect family nature holiday getaway. You may also want to consider booking our 'Kiwiana Caravan' for additional guests/kids.

All extra guests within the tent (including children) requiring a bed to be made up will be an additional $25 per night. Please add additional guests when making your booking. Pets are not allowed sorry as we have a cat and chickens on site.
We look forward to hosting you and sharing our wee slice of paradise!

Guest access
The price listed is for two adults per night and does not include breakfast. Breakfast can be purchased at additional cost and a brekkie menu will be provided. Discounts are offered for longer stays.

The glamping tent has her own tea and coffee making facilities (toaster and kettle) and all the goodies are supplied. There is an outdoor kitchen area adjacent to the tent for your food preparation needs. A private( hot) outdoor shower is an amazing experiece. There is also a shower which is shared with us within the main house if the rain is too heavy and the creek intake for the outdoor shower needs to be shut. There is a private compost loo near the tent. There is a mini-fridge in the tent. You can enjoy a glass of wine as you watch a beautiful sunset from the sea view deck.
We (your hosts) also live on the property about 35 meters from the Tent area. There are lots of trees and lush greenery between the dwellings so plenty of privacy. Again, there is only 1 tent on the property and a caravan in it's own self-contained separate zone.
We also often have abundant fruit and produce at certain times of year that we love to share with our guests.

We sometimes have helpers/woofers/guests staying here (in a separate caravan accommodation) to assist with the care of the land and gardens. Please respect the caravan zone and space and they will do the same for you.

Other things to note
I run Thrive Therapies at Aroha Health Spa in Pohara and work in many facets of natural health and healing, including massage, reflexology, herbalism, and colon hydrotherapy. I am often away from the land working with clients, especially in summer. Massage and other forms of healing bodywork can be arranged at Aroha Health Spa, a 15 to 20 minute walk along the beach. Eventually, the Glamping Tent space will be used as an accommodation option for healing health retreats organized through Aroha Health Spa and utilizing fresh food from the land.

Breakfast Options: Muesli with milk, wholegrain toast, homemade spreads plus whatever fruit is in season on the land OR fresh eggs from our happy hens and greens (as in season) with wholegrain toast and spreads. We can cook a homegrown breakfast feast for you with eggs as you like them, herbs, and greens with wholegrain toast and spreads ($25per person) OR provide a breakfast basket for you to cook your own (additional $20per person). We can also brew up some fair-trade organic coffee flat white espressos with milk ($5.50) should you prefer this over plunger coffee which is included in your glamping experience. If you would like the full service brekky please let me know the night before and this needs to be pre-ordered. There is a breakfast menu within the tent. Gluten free options also available. Cash only for breakfast add-ons. Thanks.

Where you’ll be

Pōhara, Tasman, New Zealand

We live across the street from our local Marae (Maori meeting place). We live in a quiet neighborhood and in a community of friendly, helpful, and caring people. Beautiful Pohara beach is just a 600 meter stroll away. The beach is an endless expanse of ever-changing beauty as the tide moves a great distance between high and low. It is a great place to walk, run, explore, swim, frolic, ride horses, fly a kite, kayak, ride a blo-kart, relax, read, or walk your dog. We even have our very own NZ Little Blue Penguins residing nearby, who are shy but very entertaining. The Tarakohe wharf is also only a 15-20 minute walk with great access to fishing, sailing and boating. There is ample rock climbing within walking distance all along the sea frontage. We are at the gateway to the top end of the Abel Tasman National Park (the quietest most untouched areas are up on the top end). There are endless pristine beaches to explore, kayak, or walk along, as well as waterfall and bush tracks. Some of Golden Bay's best restaurants are within walking distance, such as the San Souci Inn and Ratanui Lodge. For any easy inexpensive meal pick up some fish & chips or pizzas from the local takeaways at Pohara General Store. Aroha Health Spa just down the road providing a range of relaxing therapies and treatments to pamper you after a long day exploring :)
