The house is located within a ten minutes walk from the center of the village of Viens. The property is set on the hillside in an attractive and well cared for estate with superb views over the Luberon valley towards the Vaucluse hills.
The garden in front of the house are is planted with olive trees, lavender and other colorful flowers, a typical "provencal" landscape that you can enjoy sunbathing by the swimming pool. The upper levels of the property, dotted with oak trees provides shade during the heat of the day and leads to hidden paths for walks on the hill.
The two story house is tiled with terra cotta floors that provide a warm welcome. The living and dining rooms as well as the master bedroom (queen size bed) have French doors leading to a terrace with superb views to the hills beyond, a lovely place for a sunshine breakfast or a dinner under the stars. The kitchen is equipped with fridge/freezer, oven/stove, and dishwasher. A washing machine is also available. A hall leads to the staircase and to the upper part of the house. Upstairs are the bathroom, two bedrooms (one with two single beds and the other with a queen size bed) and a guest/office room (with a single bed).
The house is fully furnished, just come and make yourself at home. You can find everything you need in the village (delicious little cafe/restaurant; pizzeria; bakery shop; grocery store; the best honey producer) and the charming city of Apt is only 8 miles away (with a splendid farmers market every saturday).
The village of Viens is located 12 km east of Apt by the N100 (direction Forcalquier) for 4 km, then the D209 on the left.
It is situated on the border of the Alpes de Haute Provence in the heart of “Parc Naturel Régional du Luberon”. It is at the far end of the "route de l'ocre", famous for the Colorado provencal" cliffs
Surrounded by magnificent countryside and perched on a rocky outcrop for more than a millennium, Viens is an ancient village with a medieval atmosphere. While visiting Viens, you will come across plenty of evidence of its dramatic past, 13th century and a Renaissance chateau, restored in the 14th century. Beautiful walks can be taken around the village where the natural environment is truly superb... you will love it!
I grew up in France and have been living in the United States for five years. My husband and I live in La Mesa, a little town close to San Diego. We love traveling, hiking and discovering the world but also just relaxing at home, enjoying our friends and family.
