You're welcome to cook your food as long as you clean up afterwards. Use the refrigerator to store take-out food or a few items like juice, milk, eggs....My renovated unit has adequate space between the kitchen area and living room, so no cramped feeling.

You have access to the full-size bathroom, kitchen, and living room.

The living room adequately holds two carry-ons and a roll-around. You'll sleep on a comfortable full-size pull out bed. Feel free to watch TV. I set up a guest account on my PC for those you lose their phone or it becomes inoperable.

This neighborhood has a variety restaurants, pizza parlors, lounges, and Chinese take-outs. There are major retailers & bargain stores. I live in between 2 colleges and 3 major malls.

The space

Unwind from a day of conferencing, sight-seeing, or otherwise in a clean, attractive apartment in a recently renovated walk-up building with an awning. Given the size of my apartment, this is ideal for a stay of up to 6 days.

You'll sleep on a sofabed--covered in clean sheets--that can accommodate up to 2 people, if necessary. Clean up in a full-size bathroom with electric outlets, fan, & a window. You can keep food & beverages in the refrigerator. There are several clean, moderately priced Halal, Chinese, Latino, New American, and Caribbean restaurants to choose from.

The building is located in between the B/Q and 2/5 subway lines and minutes from the Flatbush Ave. bus and the fun dollar vans.

I'm willing to give you a short tour of Flatbush, Ditmas Park, or East Flatbush if you ask.

I have a cat that's friendly but not intrusive and the same is true about me :-) Non-smoking women are preferred. All people welcomed.

Guest access

You may use the PC to check your flight, etc.
Watch TV and put your food in the refrigerator. If you love your own cooking, then cook and clean up afterwards.

There is a laundry room in the basement.

Interaction with guests

I live here so you will see me but I will respect your privacy. Based on my guests' openness, we can have conversations.

Other things to note

While my check-in interval is 12 noon - 9 pm, I need to know your estimated time of arrival (ETA); i.e, when you plan to come to my home. I work in the area & can be here to greet you & settle you in.

Please know that I have a pleasant, cute tomcat. He's friendly but not intrusive. Close your luggage. The cat hasn't done so but he may sleep on your clothes.

I have a list of Brooklyn attractions & subway touring to encourage exploring Brooklyn.

I provided 5 verifications to have potential guests feel comfortable staying with me. I readily accept guests that have uploaded government ID to AirBnB.

Please leave your shoes in the entrance hallway (flip flops provided).

I give accommodation to one adult, or one adult with one infant under two years of age (at no additional charge for the infant), or one adult with one child between 2 yrs and 12 yrs of age (at half the charge of the adult).

You must prove you are the legal guardian of the infant or child before I approve your request. Please understand: there are so many missing children in the United States that this precaution is needed.

This is a quiet building. Please no very loud music and meet your friends outside of the building; however, If you require a friend to lead you around, tell me in advance.

The co-op board doesn't permit us to copy the front door key - "do not copy" tag on the key --so, I will buzz you into the building. No worries: I work very close to home. No worries: You can come in LATE at night--just text me about it.

We'll stay in touch with each other through texting. No phone calls please because I don't always hear the phone but will feel the vibration of a text. BUT, if 1 hour goes by without me replying, text & ring.

There are two wall outlets--one in the kitchen area and the other in the bathroom--that you may use to charge your electronics safely. To use outlets located low to the floor is risky due to the possibility of my cat chewing wires. To plug in the lower outlets is at your own risk and expense.

You may keep food in the refrigerator. Please throw away the remainder in the hallway garbage bag. Please crush your boxes and cartons. Further, you may cook here.

While you're here, it is my responsibility to do the major cleaning. I ask that you rinse out the face bowl and tub after using them. Also, shake water off the tub mat and hang it on the wrung.

There's a lot to do in Brooklyn. I have suggestions :-).

Akosua and her home were very warm and inviting. I felt comfortable for the entirety of my stay. Every morning I enjoyed a delicious fruit bowl and I didn't have to worry about getting back at a certain time. Akosua and I had wonderful talks and she had many suggestions as to what to see around Brooklyn. Highly recommend staying here :)

Akosua is a very hospitable host. She did whatever she could to make sure that I was comfortable. She even made me a foot soak for my aching feet! Upon arrival she gave me a list of sites to visit in Brooklyn, which definitely came in handy during my visit. She's centrally located between the Q and 2/3 trains as well as a few bus routes, so it's very easy to get around. The only problem was a little miscommunication with the check-in time, so just be as specific as possible about what time you will be arriving. Other than that, it was a great experience! Thanks again, Akosua.

Shaunda, thank you for staying with me. You seemed to have done your sightseeing and attended AfroPunk. I enjoyed the plum & peach. Please check my message in Messages. All the best to you.

I didn't feel at ease in this apartment. A lot of promiscuity with Akosua as she barely leaves her apartment and as the sofa bed is in the living room. The apartment is small (of course this is New York), the sofa bed is basically half the size of the living-room / kitchen, thus no space to open luggage. Akosua asks that you close the sofa bed every morning so you cannot be at ease + she doesn't give keys so you need to wake her up in the middle of the night for her to open and you need to make your bed again when all you want is to crash and sleep, not very practical. Cat's litter is in the bathroom. There is no wifi... overall I tried to be there as seldom as possible which for me makes it not worth the cost.

Response from Akosua:
Sandra explained she was closing out the last few days of a school course and she would spend time with her classmates in the city afterwards. She left here in the morning after breakfast and returned some time at night. I had a strong impression that Sandra hadn't read my home's profile within moments of her arrival. Her review confirms my impression. There are many things explained in the profile. The hair dryer, keys and wi-fi are two of them. I don't understand how you're using the word "promiscuity", but there was none occurring during your visit here. All the four days that you were here, you left your 25" spinner open by the side of the sofa for your convenience. I also offered a section in my hall closet for you to use but you declined. The two papers (subway tours & 56 Bklyn sites) are pieces I give to my guests to encourage exploring Brooklyn. They have nothing to do with my inability to go clubbing with you the night you arrived. I didn't offer to go clubbing. Please re-read AirBnB's message system. I did write that I would have to check whether it was ok for me to go out that night. I encouraged you to follow your plan by directing you to two fun streets close by. My cat's food, water, and litter box are in the bathroom. I showed this to you the first night. I'm sorry that you found my bathroom unclean. I clean out the litter box and sweep the floor 3 times a day. I also clean the tub, wipe down the tiles around it, and scour the toilet and face bowl. I do not wake my guests up in the morning. Like yourself, they have some chime to wake them. I did wake you Saturday morning around 9:10 am because check out is 10 AM. Also, your impulsiveness, which shows itself as anger or impatience, had got the best of me. Yes, I offered to keep your 25" spinner until 5 PM, but we needed to adhere to the 10 AM checkout.

Akosua is the sweetest woman who is full of knowledge but has a beautiful respect of giving you your space. I had the loveliest stay and felt that I was cared for whilst in her home. To say that I feel that she is one of the best air bnb's I've stayed at where I felt very welcomed is an understatement. The apartment is situated very close to Flatbush ave which has all your amenities and it's very easy to get onto the subway or bus. I loved her apartment and highly recommend Akosua's place

My favorite travel destinations include any part of the world. I've enjoyed meeting the different people; eating the different food, seeing the sites, and becoming more human from the traveling.

As a host, I'm neat and will help you get acclimated to the city. I can give you a personal tour of Brooklyn, if you like. We'll use public transit and walking. If you want to bike it, there are Citibikes. Living in the city made of 5 smaller cities is interesting.

The kind of woman I am is fast walking, friendly, curious, and helpful. These qualities are assets as a teacher and writer. Very important: I have a fluffy male cat that's cordial. I frequently whisk my furniture.
