Testimonials

“A lovely time spent at the barn with my children. In simple terms it was a relaxing spot within easy reach of beach time in Southwold or crabbing/fishing in Walberswick. Diane was welcoming and friendly, providing a homely environment which although basic was comfortable and warm”. Jason August 2015

“What a perfect little spot in country Suffolk! Saskia and Diane were great to deal with and the barn was so perfect. We have a little boy so the extra single room was great for him and we all slept so well! The barn has everything you need and our little one ran amok in the beautiful garden. We’ll be back.” Jenni August 2015

Our TV crew loved their stay at the cottage and barn over the Latitude weekend (July 2015). Diane’s communication was great throughout the booking process, and upon arrival of the crew she was very helpful and hospitable, and kindly waited for their late arrival on the first day – nothing was too much trouble!! “Diane was lovely and patient (we got lost and arrived much later than planned), explained everything we needed to know about the accommodation and the area and welcomed us with home-made jam and artichokes fresh from the garden. She was always there for questions and we also had some very nice conversations.” Astrid July 2015

“The barn is quirky and charming and adjacent to a large garden, which we could use as much as we liked. One can go for nice walks in the area and easily get to the coast by car. The only drawback is that there are no real walls within the barn, thus one can hear every noise that the other people are making. So it is best to share it with very close friends/partners/family. Otherwise it is wonderful.” Esther June 2015

“Enjoyed my two week stay in the barn… the amenities within the barn are excellent and all you could need. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and the church and graveyard next door make it quite a magical place.” Jon (musician) April 2015

Diane was very welcoming when we arrived. We were a bit confused which house it was as didn't have sign, but decided on the right one which was just next to church, next door to church farm house. House is very beautiful and old with lovely wood beams, wood fire and kept cosy and warm. Lots of interesting art around house and felt very relaxed. House is just down the road from mill and not far a drive to minismere which we enjoyed.

For many year now I have been restoring my house and workshop in order to create a hub of life, learning and play.

I originally trained in fine art at Brighton and Kingston. Currently I work for Suffolk County Council with challenging young people in education 4 days a week and on Fridays I teach 2 furniture restoration classes in the workshop at home to adults. These have been running successfully for 15 years. Meanwhile I fit in maintenance of the house, organic gardening, upholstery, french polishing and china restoration commissions alongside making my own artworks.

What I’d like to do now (at last!) is open up my house and workshop to other individuals and groups to do whatever it is they want in a warm, friendly environment with access to all of what’s here.

Previously I ran an organic vegetarian Bed and Breakfast.
