Barnsbury is an extremely well connected part of Islington famed for its beautiful victorian townhouses, parks and squares. Local stations include Highbury & Islington, Caledonian Road, Barnsbury, Angel and Essex Road.

You can walk to the Emirates Stadium, Business Design Centre, Upper Street, The Almedia, Sadlers Wells, The Albion Pub, Regents Canal, Kings Cross and St Pancras.

The space

Our ground floor flat is located in an early Victorian townhouse built for upper class families looking to move away from the 'big smoke'. The house has been in our family for over 100 years and is located in a conservation area that ensures the surrounding areas are not overdeveloped.

The majority of the flat underwent a complete restoration one year ago, in the process we exposed the original wooden floors and large brick fireplace. Having not wanted to damage the beautiful hand rendered cornices and original skirting boards, we opted to use metal conduit for the electrical cables and up-lights. The result is a semi-industrial spin on a traditional Islington townhouse. Perhaps my favourite feature however are the two large arched windows that fill the living room with natural light during the day.

The house frontage was completely restored over the summer with the windows and plaster stucco returned to their original Victorian colours. The beautiful brickwork was also extensively cleaned to bring it back to its vibrant yellow colour. We also benefit from an unusually large front garden setting the house back from the main road.

Guest access

As a guest you will be able to access cycle parking facilities, the communal hallway, a large driveway (if requested), a large front garden and the ground floor flat.

Other things to note

Access to the communal hallway and flat itself are through keypad codes - so no need to worry about lost keys.

Joe's place is fantastic! Absolutely everything you need for a wonderful visit to the city and really experience what local life is like. Multiple Underground lines within easy walking distance, so many fun places to visit and eat, and Joe is the absolute perfect host. My husband and I are moving to London soon and we wanted to stay in a few different places to really get a feel of the neighbourhoods. Joe gave us many recommendations of places to visit and everything was perfect! Also really easy walking distance to Angel, which is full of life and too many restaurants and lovely shops to count. The flat is stunning. Gorgeous restored floors and I could stare at the fireplace with the fairy lights all night. Comfy bed, comfy sofa, comfy everything. Perfect visit and can't wait to come again!

Really beautiful property in a great location 10 minute walk from Highbury & Islington station as well as 5 minute walk from many bars and restaurants. The property looks so much better in person than in the photo's. Joe is a very attentive host and was easy to communicate with, he was very welcoming on arrival and explained the logistics of the property clearly. Fully furnished and a comfortable stay. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay in a beautiful flat in a great location!

First tip is to visit the amazing Sundays for brunch, 2 mins walk from our house on a quite residential road - the food is incredible!
