It is a pretty little place. Built in 1850 and renovated with care. In the middle of woodland, fields and lakes. Totally on your own, with neighbours at a comfortable distance in terms of providing security but too far away to intrude.

The space

Here you are left alone. Away from the world of mankind. The night sky is dark and full of stars and the sounds of nature stand out. You won't meet anybody if you don't want to.
The house is pretty, pleasant and cosy. Newly renovated and with all modern comforts. Consists of a main house and a small guesthouse. A private jetty by the lake too.
There are three open fireplaces, a stove and plenty of dry wood in the wood shed.

Guest access

The house is all yours during your stay. We will provide you with bed linen, towels and toiletries.
Whatever food is there is yours. Cleaning is done by each guest upon departure, unless other arrangements have been made.

Interaction with guests

We will support you with local travel information, tips regarding nice places to go, where to eat, shop, golf, swim or whatever you want to do.

Other things to note

My father often comes to visit, flies into Skavsta airport from the UK. He loves coming, the wilderness, the calm, the lack of people and traffic.
Sitting in front of the fire in the evenings and going for a heavenly sleep, not disturbed by anything is priceless. And in truth, one does sleep well here.

House Rules

We love our cottage and treat it with upmost respect and care. We hope you will do the same. No smoking indoors, no pets and no wild parties. Anything that is broken or spoilt is replaced or compensated for.

We spent a great week at Svinkärret. The house is so cozy and well equipped that we felt welcomed like at home. The garden and the surroundings are wounderful, with wildlife right on the doorstep. We enjoyed the rich nature, the solitude and the fantastic starry sky without any city light pollution. The children loved the trampoline and had lots of fun with the rubber boat on the nearby lake as well. The hiking trail Sörmlandsleden passes nearby and gave us a nice day out, through the changing landscape of deep forests, swim-friendly lakes and cute farmsteads. The communication with Ellen was easy and very friendly and she took great care in helping us feel right at home. We miss the house already and would love to come back soon!

A little slice of Swedish heaven! The house and garden were just lovely, as was being so close to the lake. Recommended for those who want to get out of the fast lane and relax in the quiet countryside for a while. A big thanks to Ellen and her family for a great week in their place!
