2nd floor Apartment that feels like a Treehouse in the middle of Lake Placid. Bright and cheery, it's minutes to the Olympic Center, Mirror Lake and Main Street Shops and Restaurants. The Ironman cyclists pass close enough to watch from the porch.

The space

This is a delightful little space...that said, it is really not comfortable for more than 4 adults. We want our guests to leave having had a positive experience.....

Guest access

The entire apartment is available for our guests--we also have a locked storage shed that is available for Bikes etc.

Interaction with guests

We occupy the first floor, and while we are not in residence full time, are always reachable. If we are in Lake Placid we'll do everything we can for you.

Other things to note

Please Note: Over the Summer we had some negative comments about sleeping arrangements. The IKEA twin beds, which we assumed would mostly be occupied by small people, were instead used by adults. A very busy year, caused un-anticipated wear and tear to the poor things. In response, we've replaced them with more substantial frames and 8" cool gel foam mattresses. They are however, still twin beds.....

This is a great home base if you are looking for a place to crash after being outside all day, exploring the Lake Placid area. The kitchen is adequate, has coffee machine and all the items you need, washer/dryer, parking, and the owner(s) is very responsive and nice. After visiting, it’s my opinion that it’s not especially private so I wouldn’t make it a romantic get-a-way “spend all day in bed” kind of spot.

Response from Gay:
I'm a little baffled by this review.....the rental apartment is completely separate from the rest of the house. Kimberly and her friends came to town for a wedding, and as we did not arrive until their last day, they actually had the entire house to themselves for 2 nights. We've rented to many couples and I can't tell you if any opted to "spend all day in bed" as we don't keep such close tabs on our guests..

Right on the Ironman course, within walking distance of town, Super Friendly Ladies. Very relaxing with great decor, however, a little cramped with 6 adults, but we enjoyed ourselves.

We found the "Treehouse" to be a cute, cottage-like place. Very clean, well -equipped in a great location.

Loved my stay here! It's in a great location, and was easy walk for me to get to the Olympic Center everyday for skating. Pretty much everything on Main St is a short walk away also. The only complaint I have was the two twin beds were very uncomfortable and loud.

We arrived in late August for the last few nights of our vacation this summer after camping throughout the Adirondak's. Gay's 2nd floor space was exactly as we expected; cozy and warm with great views and an excellent location. She quickly helped us get settled and we enjoyed a quick chat. Gay provided great info about Lake Placid and surrounding areas and we enjoyed the short walk into town after our long hikes during the day. Thank you so much! We would highly recommend Gay's home! Our stay was exactly why we love Airbnb so much: to be away from home, but to have the comfort of a home away from home.

Sweet apartment within walking distance to town/shops/restaurants. Relaxing and low key, it was great for my family. Gay was very helpful and responsive, but respectful of our privacy. We really enjoyed our Lake Placid vacation and would definitely come back to the Denali Tree House!

The apartment was great. It was in walking distance of all the shops, restaurants and pubs of LP. It had all the basic utensils needed to prepare meals. Beds were cozy . We had a wonderful time and will be staying again next year .

My friend Lynn and I bought 174 McKinley Street in Lake Placid in the Summer of 2015 and spent every weekend renovating it. The more time we spent in the upstairs apartment, the more it felt like a treehouse. We still love to have a glass of evening bubbles on the sun porch when it is not occupied. We've loved meeting some really great people who have stayed with us!
