Take a step back in time and experience colonial charm and luxurious elegance at the Settha Palace. Enjoy a space decorated with beautiful rosewood flooring & rosewood 2-poster single bed, writing desk, wardrobe, Italian marbled bathroom and 32" TV.

The space

In the heart of bustling Vientiane stands a remarkable old mansion. Built in the early part of the last century, circa 1932, and painstakingly restored to its former imperial glory, the Settha Palace Hotel serves as a testament to the long lost era of classical elegance, gracious service and French colonial charm.

Once more owned by the same passionate family that ran the hotel in its heyday before the change of regime in 1975, no stone has been left unturned and no expense spared in the quest to bring this Vientiane landmark back to life.

Whether you are relaxing by the pool or holding an event in our meeting facilities, friendly service delivered with warm smiles and discrete attention to all your needs.

So if your travels bring you to Vientiane. We truly hope to be able to welcome you to Laos and wish you "Sabaidee!" (Hello and Welcome!).

Guest access

Full access to all areas of the boutique hotel. Cool off in the resort style swimming pool, break a sweat in the gym, pamper yourself with a massage, and treat yourself to delicious Lao or French cuisine.

The experience could have been more pleasant. Unfortunately, this is a listing by a hotel, which normally does their business mainly with the mainstream tourists. The hotel manager or marketing officer want to cut out a market share in the Airbnb community. They list the smallest corner of the colonial style hotel at a little lower price than the more luxurious rooms, though not cheap. It is acceptable for a guest who wants to experience a colonial lifestyle. The disappointment welcomes this guest as he arrives, when the hotel marketing officer said, “we apologize to ask for your cooperation to stay at a new and clean hotel nearby for tonight. Tomorrow we will pick you up to stay with us. We are sorry for the inconvenience. We will compensate you with a meal.” She then asked her staff to look after the transfer and the compensation, neither of which is welcome by this guest. I however, cooperated by accepting to stay at a different place. It doesn’t matter, though the compensation never happened. The experience is different. It didn’t matter for the marketing officer, as long as it solved her problem of overbooking. I came back to stay at this hotel the next day for the rest of my reservation. I have never seen the marketing officer again. I nevertheless managed to enjoy the friendly atmosphere and staff. Considering this experience, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for Airbnb guests. I would suggest that the hotel management and marketing officer learn a little more about what is important for a property owner/ manager to join the Airbnb community to become a host.
