Wow, what to say. I was greeted by both hosts when I arrived after 10pm, with a wonderful gongfu tea prepared by Chiayu. And I was invited to join them for breakfast the next morning. And that it how it was all the way through. Ralf and Chiayu are fabulous hosts, they made sure I was comfortable all the time, offered help and tips, and generally made my stay the best experience. The apartment is perfectly located for anyone hoping to check out the Beitou hotsprings or hoping to explore Yangmingshan. It's about 10 mins downhill to the Xinbeitou MTR station and about 20 mins downhill to the Beitou market with tons of great places for food. I definitely hope to return if they'll have me!

Got quite a few travel tips from the hosts. Chiayu lent me her mrt card and power band. The couple can easily become your friends and make the stay comfy. Walkable distance from the train station if you don't carry heavy luggage. Surprisingly goos ventilation even the room is on attic floor.

Ralf's place really did have the atmosphere and character that I though I could feel from looking at the photos. Ralf and Chiayu are superbly courteous hosts. The location is nothing short of excellent if you're looking for the same as me: a relaxing holiday close to nature but with access to the city. My stay couldn't have been any better. An example day: Wake up to collaborate on a satisfying breakfast accompanied by Taiwanese tea, before you venture out for an activity such as light mountain hiking or local street-market browsing. On your way back up the small hill, soak in the conveniently located public hot spring, and then continue through twisting, narrow roads, to reach your caring hosts' simple but well-equipped sanctuary, which is wrapped in an energizing and curiously healing sulfuric mist. Once everybody's home, share your discoveries from the day, over a rare beer, with intellectual friends who will laugh with you and provide new perspectives. Tune out and retract to your quiet, private compartment upstairs for some rest.

I loved staying here. It was cozy, but I had all the privacy in the world! Additionally, you couldn't find better hosts! Without asking, they made breakfast for me in the morning and offered supper if I was around! Their generosity and spirit shines through! I would come back and stay here anytime! Additionally, if you don't want to be smack dab in the center of Taipei, Beitou is where it is at! It is quiet and quaint and the best parts are the hot springs and food! If you want a bit of luxury too, try Villa 32s public hot springs at off times. It's right around the corner from Ralph's place, and you'll love it!

Ralf User ProfileRalf is a superhost.

Ralf is a meditater within the living-world. His concern is always about the connections between human being and reality. After few months wandering, he rediscovered the beautiful essence of Taiwan. Through philosophical and historical prospective, he gained profounder reflection about everything that happened on this mysterious land. By trekking in those foggy, mythical mountains beneath the crystal clear sky in Taiwan, one can easily find himself in a truthful sense. He wants to invite people all over the world who desires a deeply moved journey. Deep in Taiwan, deep in mind.
