We received outstanding service. There had been a problem with the hot water cylinder but they pulled all stops to get it going on a Saturday. We loved the place. The star gazing was incredible and the views were stunning. We will no doubt be back.

We actually stayed at Stuart's other property, the Miner's cottage, as the main house was fully booked on the night we wanted to arrive. It ended up working out great as we had the cottage to ourselves for 3 nights. These properties are ideally situated in the Catlins as Popotowai is right in the heart of this beautiful part of New Zealand and so you don't have to travel great distances to see what the region has to offer. The cottage itself was warm and cosy and the bed was comfy with ample of extra duvets and sheets to add a further layer of warmth if the electric blanket is not your thing! The kitchen is also well equipped and a great place to hang out. There is not really any wifi or phone signal, which we saw as a positive as it enabled to switch off from our devices! The only down side to our stay was that we didn't get to meet our host Toby! We spoke on the phone though and he made sure we were all good on our arrival and if we needed anything we were to call him on the landline. No need, everything was great. Thanks Stuart and Toby!

This cottage is perched on top of a stunningly beautiful 'out in the country' hilltop. We were lucky as we had the cottage to ourselves but even to share would have been most pleasant. The big claw bath was delightful and everything you needed in a kitchen was there. We lit the fire and made it really cosy as well as having an evening drink outside watching the many stars come out. The rhodo garden will be magnificent in late winter/spring, would love to see it in full flower. All up highly recommended.

Double check the room size you are wanting and how many other strangers would be sharing the accommodation with you.
