Though Federica was in fact living in New York during our whole stay, my fiance Maya and I felt her welcome as though she were actually there to meet us at the door in Florence. Her mother, instead, was able to greet us and introduce to us this most enchanting apartment. I should say we were very well accommodated from the first day until our sad departure, though for four months Federica was always mindful of us and I believe pleased that we should be so comfortable in her place. As for the apartment, I am afraid I will not soon encounter one like it. With its hardwood floors, beautiful beamed ceiling, ancient window panes and shutters, and an impressive library that reaches to each room, the impression is not of a flat but a castle tower. Not to speak of the terrace, where we spent many sunny afternoons escaping the crowded city center. The apartment is both charming and functional, with well-working kitchen, comfortable living room, large dining table, and two beds. Location is generally ideal, being a minute's walk from the train station and another few to the the very heart of Florence. We really felt at home, in a practical sense and aesthetic. Federica is certainly of great taste, a point which for me, in fact, as an artist, was/is an immediate basis for trust and admiration. It was really a 'bella cosa' to stay here for four months, and a pleasure to have Federica for a host.
