Our modern villa has a great tropical vibe and several awesome aspects for a fun vacation in Mal Pais. Excellent amenities, attention to detail, great rates and a quiet / safe location.

Kick off your sandals and relax at the terrace, the second floor balcony or lounge poolside under our humungous tiki hut... we got hammocks everywhere.

Walk to the nearby beaches, we are minutes from downtown for some excellent dining options and fun nightlife too.

You'll feel at home in paradise!

The space

The villa is designed and inspired by Mal Pais and Santa Teresa's tropical climate and gorgeous coastline. It blends both the indoor and outdoor environments with its use of outdoor terraces, open-plan living and high-ceilings.

The villa has a total of 4 master bedrooms, 1 single bedroom and 4.5 bathrooms. An amazing pool deck, a deep blue swimming pool with a tropical tiki hut that casts enough shade over the pool to make it an absolute perfect relaxing experience. Chill in one of the hammocks while you hear the sound of the tropics and the surf... or sip on margaritas while sitting on the graded large step in the shallows of the swimming pool.

A Modern Design:
Sliding glass doors practically take up the entire west facing part of the second floor which open up to an expansive balcony overlooking the pool. Additionally the balcony has a Hot / Cold Jacuzzi, a covered dining area, lounge chairs, hammock and a BBQ for an intimate, cozy environment which is great for alfresco dining as well.

The bottom floor has an big terrace which overlooks our beautiful garden and is just a few steps from the swimming pool. It also has a hammock, a couple lounge chairs and a 6 top dining set.

Modern Comforts:
Quality bed linens, beach & pool towels, daily housekeeping and specialty services such as private Yoga or Pilates classes, surf lessons, massages and private chefs can be arranged.

There's central A/C with separate controls for each floor, every bedroom room has a ceiling fan as well.

Two fully fitted kitchens with quartz/granite counter tops. One on the bottom floor and the other is on the second floor each equipped with a dual stage water filtration system. You won't miss a thing.

Pacific Azure is perfect choice for those who want a sense of privacy during their vacation yet maintain proximity to the nightlife, restaurants, and the beautiful beaches of Mal Pais, Santa Teresa and Montezuma. A great value, at a great location with exceptional amenites.

Other things to note

Fish Straight From the Line!
One great perk our guests get to really enjoy is our proximity to the Mal Pais fishery. You can buy fresh fish straight from the line here from the local fisherman, they will filet if for you so you can cook it or grill it at the comfort of your home. It's literally a 5 minute drive from the villa.

Yoga, Pilates & Massages
Our guests can schedule private yoga and pilates classes in our brand new poolside tiki hut. Just ask us ahead of time so we can notify our instructor. There are also a couple really good yoga studios in town we can recommend just let us know if you are interested. The same goes for massage therapy, we can arrange them to come to the villa or we can recommend a couple really nice spas in town.

Local Tours & Activities
I highly recommend our guests to explore Mal Pais, Santa Teresa and Montezuma. Take the hassle out of planning local activities and tours, I can recommend and help you organize some of fun activities fro your family and friends. There are plenty of super fun kid friendly tours as well. I work closely with a local tour operator which takes our guests to some amazing places. The owner Miguel is a local, born and raised in Mal Pais and speaks excellent English and probably one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Needless to say he knows the area like the back of his hand. Some of the tours our guests have been on include off road ATV tours, Montezuma waterfall tours, snorkeling off Tortuga Island, horseback riding, surf lessons, stand up paddle board tours, kayaking, hiking the Cabo Blanco national park, the Mal Pais zip line and both inshore and offshore fishing tours as well.

Private Chef
Private chef services available for our guests. Our chef Laura would be more than happy to cook for your family and friends an amazing dinner service, lunch or breakfast. Expect amazing desserts, pastries and breads she is a five star pastry chef!

If you are traveling with kids and need a babysitter for a night out, our concierge Diana is great with kids. She is one of the teachers at the local school. Just let her know and when you see her.

This is an amazing place. A gem in the middle of nowhere. Monkeys swung in the trees around us and there is an amazing beach about a 1.5 km walk away. Some Tips: - The ferry is an experience in itself. I would suggest reading up on the whole boarding process so you are familiar. Show up at least 45-1 hour early or there is risk you won't get on. - You will need a 4x4. The roads are treacherous versus North American standards. - GPS is highly recommended. Especially as you navigate 'unnamed road' to 'unmarked road' to 'bumpy road' - The GPS is deceiving. If it says 2 hours - add another hour as the roads and traffic conditions can be unpredictable. - Food in this area is REALLY expensive. It's amazing (try the Bakery, Casa De Mara, Banana Beach) but its more expensive than you will expect. We also had kids with us and none of the restaurants have kids menus so this also contributed to the cost. - Groceries are scarce in Saint Theresa and Mal Pais. I would recommend taking a trip up to Cabuya.

Thanks for your review Shannon, it was a pleasure having you guys stay here : ) I just want to clarify a few things to future guests reading this. Normally we have two ferrys operating throughout the year. During your visit one of them was being serviced for maintenance, so only one was operational, therefore the longer wait. Unless traveling on New Year, Christmas, Spring Break and national Costa Rican holiday weekends there is no need to come an hour early to board the ferry, 15 minutes is more than enough. As for rental cars, all compact and full-size SUV rentals in Costa Rica come standard with 4x4, which is great if you want to go exploring. The drive from the ferry to Mal Pais/Santa Teresa is mostly paved, in fact from the ferry to the town Cobano the road is completely paved. From Cobano to Mal Pais/Santa Teresa it's just 15km which parts of that stretch are gravel and others are paved. While driving in town you won't need to put your vehicle in 4x4. I suggest our guests if you decide to use navigation to download (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps or Waze, they are both actually very accurate and I'll provide the exact address to enter. As for restaurants, we have some excellent dining options in Mal Pais and Santa Teresa, from sushi restaurants, seafood, pizza, bistros, cafes and local typical Costa Rican restaurants. Food will range anywhere between $6-$20+ a meal depending where you go. The typical Costa Rican dishes at the local spots are very delicious and very reasonably priced. This is small beach town yet surprisingly we do have some really good grocery stores, closest one is right around the corner from the house, no more than 5 minutes away, it's small but very convenient for all your basic needs. In town we have several super market options where you'll find anything you need. This is very IMPORTANT; I think you confused the town of Cabuya with the town of Cobano. It's actually very common for people to confuse the names. Cabuya is the small nearby town where the entrance to the Cabo Blanco National Park is, it's beautiful but no reason to drive there for grocery shopping. On the other hand the town of Cobano is the one you see on your way down to Mal Pais/Santa Teresa. You could drive there to do groceries but again, there is absolutely no reason, the best super market in town is Super Rony and it's just a 10 minute drive and few minutes further down the road you'll find Green World, which is an organic produce store, which I highly recommend. Anyhow, thanks again you guys for your stay... it was really great hosting you and of course you are more than welcome back anytime. Adi : )

The house really is amazing and it's conveniently located close to the beaches in the area. The kitchen, bedrooms and other areas are fully equiped and have everything you might need to make you feel at home. The house is pretty spacious and has big windows which allows for a lot of natural light. The pool has a good size and is well kept. I would definitely stay in this place again or recomend it to a friend. Also, Adi is a great host, he was available via messages and even in person to help us with any question or issue that we had.

We had a fantastic time at Pacific Azure - absolutely lovely large house, very easy to share with a group of people. Adi and Diana were always available to answer any questions or help out. Adi helped arrange for a private chef for an evening which was absolutely delicious and a fantastic way to enjoy the house and its surroundings. We had an extremely enjoyable time here and would recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay at Pacific Azure. The house is comfortable and property is absolutely beautiful. The owner was very helpful and always available to recommend a restaurant or activity. He booked all of our excursions. We did the fishing, surfing lessons, atv ride to Montezuma falls, ziplines and horseback riding and loved them all! Tip to future visitors: expect to pay cash or the local currency for EVERYTHING including any outside activites. Only the local grocery store accepts credit/debit cards.

About Pacific Azure

Mal Pais and Santa Teresa have been relatively below radar of the Costa Rican traveler. Discover this beautiful part of the planet on your next vacation to Costa Rica. You'll feel right at home at one of my stylish vacation rentals, while the relaxing tropical environment will most definitely let you unwind.

I enjoy watching people fall in love with Mal Pais, the locals and the laid-back lifestyle. Funny how our guests are often tempted to extend their vacation, while some in fact do ; )

My name is Adi and I've lived for over 20 years in Costa Rica, which is about half of my life. My family and some of my most amazing friends live just around the corner.

I'd like to mention that if this is a surf trip you are planning or someone in your group is a surfer you're in for a pleasant surprise. This is one of the best stretches of coastline along the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The combination of consistency and variety of both sandbars and reefs makes Mal Pais and Santa Teresa a surfers paradise. By the way the same goes for those who enjoy the outdoors, this place is simply magical.

Start your day with a fresh brew of excellent, organic, Costa Rican coffee... surf, explore the nearby beaches and relax with your family and friends poolside. It's all right here! What else does one need. Welcome to paradise : )
