The space

This self-contained loft house overlooks ponds alive with birds. It is located in a quiet seaside village with picturesque beaches, lagoons and rainforest walks all within walking distance.

Two level accommodation consists of family room with kitchenette, outdoor breeze way and shared bathroom, then upstairs, one large bedroom, ensuite and a private sun deck. The bed combo is one queen and one king single. There is also a single bed downstairs in the family room. All linen and towels are provided. Free wifi internet access is provided at the house on request.

The means to prepare your own light breakfast with tea and coffee is provided and special dietary requests welcomed. Guests can self-cater using the barbeque and kitchenette. Excellent meals can be had within the village at the Tavern and the local bowling club. There are more dining options within a short drive.

The local shops comprise a supermarket, chemist, bakery, cafe, post office, library, day spa, hairdresser and Lions Op Shop. There is also a free wifi hotspot at the local library.

Surf and swim at a patrolled beach or do laps in the ocean baths. Chill out with a book or play a board game. Take an artistic break! Art tuition and supplies are available at a reasonable cost. There is plenty to do.

Guest access

Guests have access to hanging space for your washing and a gas barbecue in the breezeway. There is driveway parking while unloading, then on street parking. It is a quiet cul-de-sac.

Interaction with guests

I try to be here to greet my guests, or at least make arrangements so that you can settle in to your place. I am always happy to answer questions or offer assistance. I found that making breakfast didn't really work with my schedule and that of my guests, so now I just provide starter supplies so that you can make your own breakfast at a time of your choosing.

Other things to note

We have a new whale watching lookout in the forest above the cliffs.

lovely house, firstly the house is very ne and done to a high standard, the bathroom is immaculate and the upstairs terrace big. The kitchen area is very limited but the host let us use her kitchen which was great, Its lovely and quiet at night. secondly the location, 10 min walk through woodland to a huge beach (we saw dolphins) there is also a playground, sea pool and café at beach. extensive nature walks from property. and a 20 min drive to larger surrounding towns. medium size supermarket and a few more shops and restaurants just 2 min stroll from house. thirdly check in. this was all arranged well the owner was in good contact with me and her sister lives a few doors away and let us in. This would make a great place for a tranquil beach break, great for kids, nature lovers and those wanting to stay somewhere of a high standard , great for nature lovers also. highly recommend,

Sandy provided a delightful loft home away from home. Really loved our short stay and could easily stay longer. So close to all black beach facilities with a lovely outlook over the Billabongs and lilypads. We arrived late ,but that was no problem.

We really enjoyed Sandy's place. With sounds of the nearby surf, and cries of the birds in the nearby ponds, we could have been in the middle of nowhere. Yet both the shops and the Tavern (great meals!) were both a couple of minutes walk away. The loft has the feel of a lovely beach house with spots both upstairs and down to sit outside, and the beds are very comfortable. We would recommend it to anyone seeking a relaxing holiday in a wonderful sea-side location. Ken and Gayle

We visited Black Head for an evening function at the Surf Club so basically needed a bed for the night. Sandy was lovely, the bed was very comfortable and the shower in the ensuite was very good.

Hi - I am an artist living in beautiful Black Head. I paint, draw and share these skills with others through workshops in my studio and local colleges. I also enjoy playing folk music, my instruments being voice, flute, tin whistle and concertina. I moved to Black Head in 2011 …
