Amazing piece of Canarian paradise. Far from being a sterile hotel room or apartment in a tourist resort - which is just what Juan's place should be valued for and exactly what we were looking for with my girlfriend. This kind of accommodation is exactly what airbnb should be about - something special, local and authentic. Juan was there to meet us and show us around the house exactly when we agreed, together with a complementary bottle of wine. The views are even better than the photos can tell. Equipped with everything you need, including everything in the kitchen. It can get chilly when it's not very warm outside (the first night we stayed it was just 10 degrees celsius outside), but it's nothing that the fireplace and lots of warm blankets (that are available there) can't fix. Just unlucky with the weather in the beginning - last evening and morning were perfect. Overall - highly recommended if non-touristy authenticity is what you're looking for. You can't go wrong here.

Saludos Juan

Juan's traditional cottage was a wonderful introduction to Gran Canaria; perched as it is at the head of a valley with great views south to the sea. The house is on the edge of Temisas, a small mountain village with a couple of bars (not sure if they were open) but no shops so we loaded up with supplies on the way up the mountain. We thought that we would have some difficulty finding the cottage in the dark but Juan's helpful directions and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps helped us to navigate the narrow roads up the hill and through the village. And Juan was waiting for us with a welcoming bottle of wine - thank you. One thing to note there is a short walk down steps to get to the house which makes maneuvering a large suitcase a bit tricky! We had 2 nights at Juan's house and loved it - the weather was not great on the day we were there (a bit cold and windy) but the bedroom was cosy and the bed is very comfortable. The house and kitchen have all that you need including a wood burning stove. This is a great place to stay.

Juan's house is a slice of Canarian paradise, sitting on a beautiful terrace with a bougainvillea and other lovely homely trinkets. It's in spring distance from Santa Lucia and the coast. The house is very quaint and authentic. We loved it stay and Juan made us feel at home.

It was amazing to wake up in the morning and step out on to the terrace of Casa de los Pinos looking out over the mountains and sparkling ocean below. If you are looking for a quiet secluded location away from the tourist trail, Temisas is the place. A car is probably a must if you stay here, there isnt even a shop in the village so you have to buy everything in nearby towns some 15 mins away by car. We were here in December and temperatures dropped significantly at night in this area - the house is made for warm weather -so lots of blankets and time in front of the fire in the living room. The house is very spacious as is the terrace and small garden.

We had a wonderful stay in Juan's house. The location is very beautiful, away from crowded tourist places in a small village (noise only from dogs and roosters). Apparently the Canarian Government even gave Temisas the tile of a typical Canarian village :) We did lots of climbing and hiking and found this house to be a good starting place for that. The house itself is equipped with everything you need, especially the kitchen. It feels like Juan and his family often use it themselves, so it has a nice homy feeling to it, there are bookshelves with novels to read, hiking books, etc. Only downside was that during the uncommonly heavy rain during our stay, it rained through the kitchen roof... but with pots and pans in strategic places, even that was not a big problem and Juan told us he would fix this. We would definitely stay here again, and can only recommend it!
