A detached house in lovely gardens and near the village of Antony which has a fine dining pub. Easy access to South West coastal path (may be possible to arrange lift to/from path). The town of Torpoint is approximately 3 miles away, providing easy access to Plymouth. HMS Raleigh is 1 mile away.

The space

Comfortable ground floor accommodation. A small double bedroom with adjoining small sitting room and large, light and airy conservatory. This gives plenty of space to sit and appreciate the beautiful countryside views looking over to Plymouth and Dartmoor and is not used by the family when guests are visiting. A small television, DVDs, books and games are available. There is also sole use of a modern shower room (not en- suite). If you have walking equipment etc there is plenty of room for storage. Light breakfast of cereal, fruit, yoghurt, toast etc is provided by the host in the family dining room. Guests are welcome to use kitchen and dining room to prepare own snacks or light meals if required. There is access to the garden from the conservatory where guests can also use the barbecue.

Guest access

Please note that the accommodation is on the ground floor but a steep drive to the property excludes those with limited mobility. Parking at the top of the drive can be arranged on discussion with the host. Access to lower terraces of garden with barbecue and fishpond and decking area with stunning views. Use of hot tub and barbecue can be negotiated

Interaction with guests

We are semi retired so are often at home during the day and happy to spend time with guests who want to find out more about the area. Breakfast time can be negotiated, served by the host or on a self service basis if necessary.

Other things to note

Antony House (NT), Mount Edgecombe, South West Coastal path and pretty coastal villages are close by. For those visiting HMS Raleigh we are only 1 mile away. Car ferry to Plymouth is 10 minutes drive. If guests are walking the coastal path it may be possible for the host to arrange pick up and collection from nearby points.

What a treat to stay at Lynda a Paul's place, and such good value! Don't know where to start because their generosity is way beyond what I expected. I loved their quiet, secluded lane, surrounded by greenery and paddocks. A perfect base to explore their corner of Cornwall. Great breakfast, plenty of privacy for the guests (own entrance, own bathroom and WC) and lots of private space besides your own bedroom: your own sitting room and conservatory with a spendid view! I was also welcomed into the kitchen to cook simple meals and pack a picnic. Lynda is a fabulous resource for local sites, eateries, history and went out of her way to help me seek out my local ancestry, even offering to chase things up on my behalf after I'd gone! It was my first time to Cornwall so I was chuffed by Paul and Lynda's helpfulness and availability. They were also completely respectful of my privacy. There were so many special touches and nothing was a bother. In short, these folk offer outstanding hospitality. Highly recommended.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments Helen. It was lovely to be able to share interest in social history and culture. Your visit has inspired me to get going again on my own genealogy journey before too long. Who knows, I may need to visit your place in Australia!

Lynda was so helpful picking us up early as it was raining all day and taking us to her lovely accommodation. she also gave us a cooked tea as they had some to spare which was very nice. Then the next morning she took us back to where she picked us up so we could carry on with walking the southwest coastal path.

We really enjoyed our one night's stay here. Lyn was so welcoming, friendly and helpful and kindly gave us lifts to and from the South West Coast Path which we were walking. We were give tea and cake on arrival and it was a pleasure to meet her and Paul and their dog Jerome. The hot tub from where we could look across to the lights of Plymouth was fabulous, complete with mood lighting and well worth the extra £5!!! We were impressed by the space in the conservatory and the range of games and books which we would have used had we been staying longer. Everything we needed was there, such as a hairdryer, shampoo and shower gel. All was clean and well thought out; the bed was quite springy. We had our own entrance. The local pub served delicious bar snacks at very reasonable prices and the menu looked good although we didn't try it. The "light"breakfast Lin offfered was generous and absolutely delicious with a great range of yoghurts, prepared fresh fruit, cereals, toast and spreads. We liked Rame Head and the walk from there to Mount Edgecombe, discovering a corner of Cornwall that we did not know well. This was a real treat, a home from home.

Lyn & Paul were wonderful hosts, who went out of their way to make our stay an easy and enjoyable one, this all on top of the fabulous B&B rooms (the photos do not do them justice). We slept like logs and enjoyed the conservatory view for breakfast, which was nearer lunchtime for us (thanks both!). The view from the garden and hot tub are stunning, and it's so incredibly peaceful. We also arrived very late, but they were understanding and also kindly offered to pick us up - huge thanks to Paul for the lift to Torpoint after our departure. I'm lactose intolerant and Lyn made sure I had special milk & yogurt (lots!!) and also eggs as I'm sensitive to fruit too. Very kind of them, and travelling by train and bus, it was much appreciated as we were lugging enough (rubbish) with us. They have a fantastic dog called Jerome, who is so so friendly and enjoys the odd biscuit, but mainly lots of cuddles and tummy rubbing! He is great fun and likes playing catch, especially with twigs & leaves! Transport: We didn't have a car, but found it really easy getting around the area, buses also run until about 9.30pm which meant a lovely long day/evening on the beach for my birthday. There is a bus stop near the pub (2, going east and west away from Plymouth) which is only a 7-10 minute walk. It's just 5-20 minutes to the various beaches and Rames Head, and a little longer to Kingsand and Cawsand - 2 beautiful quaint villages by the sea. We cannot recommend this airbnb enough, it is easily the best place we have ever stayed, and such good value allowed us to have a few much needed days away. Thank you so much again Lyn & Paul (and Jerome) - we will definitely return and recommend to all. X
