Semi rural location with easy access to major transport routes- roads, metro and airport. A beautiful maintained home in a former mining village full of local character. 5 minutes drive from Newcastle Airport and 20 minutes (£12.00 taxi fare) from the fantastic City of Newcastle upon Tyne and the famous Metro Centre. The property is over 100 years old, I have upgraded the interior in contemporary style. There is a supportive community, local pub and a homely atmosphere.

The space

This is a mid terraced, much loved bijoux home. The house is ideal as a base for exploring the whole of the North East region, the City of Newcastle upon Tyne and also as an alternative to airport hotel accommodation.
There is a modern style kitchen/breakfast room, spacious lounge with French doors to the garden and three double bedrooms - one king bed in the loft room, one double bed in the front en suite bedroom and two new single beds in the rear bedroom. The loft room and back bedroom have lovely views over rolling countryside.

Guest access

Guests will have full access to the entire home and garden.
There is an enclosed, well maintained garden with decked seating area overlooking the Northumberland countryside at the rear of the house whilst the front has an open aspect on to the village green. There is off street parking for one car on the drive and one across the drive. Additional cars can be parked opposite house adjacent to the village green.

Interaction with guests

Either myself or a neighbour will be there to check that everything is ok on arrival and I have left recommendations for local amenities and also tourist guides. I have lived in the area all my life and have lots of local knowledge which I can message to guests at their request. I will be available, via mobile, at all times to answer any queries.

Other things to note

There is off street parking for this listing. Since this is unusual for the village there will be other cars parked along the street. Please ensure you do not park outside any other house.
Bath towels are not provided unless requested at an additional cost.
The loft room is heated by an electric heater, which keeps the room warm, not connected to the central heating. The room does not have hanging space, a rail can be provided on request.
There is Sky TV in lounge and TV with Freeview in front double bedroom. I have a combi boiler which means there is unlimited hot water which can only be used by one appliance at once.

I have a beautiful Dalmation and so the house is well kitted out for dogs. I don't have any gear for children but they are most welcome. I expect guests to clean up after their dog and to keep them under strict control. The house is mid - terrace so noise and disturbance should be kept to a minimum. There is parking on the drive and in front of the drive. Additional cars should be parked opposite house adjacent to the village green and not in front of neighbours.
Dogs should never be left in the house alone and departure instructions must be adhered too.

This was our second visit to Pat's and we were delighted to be back in her lovely comfortable house. Pat is a lovely lady and a great host. All her little touches made us feel very welcome and our stay enjoyable. A welcome pack was left which meant we didn't have to rush out to the shop and after a long day working and travelling it was nice to put kettle on and feet up! We hired a car for our trip and as Pat has a parking spot outside her house we didn't need to worry about any parking issues. The metro station is only a short drive away and we travelled into Newcastle without any hassle from there. I would definitely recommend Pat's house, if I or my family are going back across Pat will be our first port of call.

Pat is a super host and made us very welcome. Her home is very comfortable and really well equipped. It is a bit of a tardis, being far more spacious than we imagined, easily coping with our party of five adults, one child and a toddler. The lovely garden is a real bonus too. The location was ideal for our family wedding at Kirkley Hall, it is in a lovely rural location but only a few minutes from the A1.

Pat's place is a gem and so is she! Even though thanks to terrible traffics we ended up arriving 3 hours later than scheduled, she waited to greet us and show us around the property. She has thought through everything, leaving water bottles by each bedside and a lovely breakfast package and a bottle of wine which was very much appreciated! The house is so comfortable- everyone slept very soundly. We had 3 generations of family staying to be near a family wedding near by and everyone had a fantastic weekend thanks to Pat. The Poachers cottage pub a stones throw away is also a great recommendation- great value meals and we enjoyed some live music there also. Would not hesitate to recommend Pat's place to anyone and we will definitely be booking again when we are next up to see family. Thanks Pat!

Pat was an amazing host and thought of every little detail down to water by your bed. We had a very warm welcome from pat into her lovely home which was clean and welcoming. We visited the area under sad circumstance and it was so lovely having all the family together in a family environment. Pat was very friendly and helpful. We used the house as a base to visit our son in Newcastle Upon Tyne before attending his wedding at Slaley Hall near Hexham. The house was clean and well presented and Pat left us a lovely welcome pack of goodies.

Pat's house is a real gem, 3 spacious bedrooms and 2 well appointed bathrooms (1 ensuite). The kitchen has washing machine and microwave in addition to the usual appliances. Fabulous garden which makes a great spot for watching planes take off! Pat is a superb host and we would love to stay again.
