The ocean view will mesmerize you. The shades of blue are amazing. The sound of the ocean is comforting. From the lanai we've seen sea turtles, endangered Hawaiian monk seals, whales, dolphins, Manta rays, eels and even the not so rare surfer. Our house is perfect for a family looking to relax.
The building next to the house, Makaha Shores, is under construction thru september. While the workers are there, Monday - Friday the noise is very loud. On the weekends the workers take off...

The space
The main attraction to the house is the ocean, with water splashing from the ocean into the yard and the sound of the waves crashing in every room. The Buffalo Big Board Contest is being held February 13, 14, 15, 20 and 21. Come get a front row seat of the surfing action. The surf break is directly in front of our lanai. On Lunar New Year, see surfers paddle out into the surf carrying torches to catch their first wave of the New Year.

The kitchen, dining room and living are in one great room. The wall adjacent to the Ocean is all windows and sliding doors. The adjoining wall is also full length window and screen doors. You can sit at the dining table and watch the ocean. The kitchen is also in the great room. From the kitchen you can see out these same windows and hear the ocean. It is mesmerizing.

Guest access
Our guests have full access to the house. We have a lock box on the front door so guests can arrive and depart early or late. We have an outdoor shower. There is a small beach with tidepools right off the front Lanai, to the North. Makaha State Park is 100 feet away. You can walk across the tidepools on lower tide or walk around the street. Use the family beach equipment: boogie boards, snorkel sets, beach chairs, cooler, beach umbrella, and sand toys.

Other things to note
We have available for guest use, boogie boards, adult snorkel set, beach chairs, beach towels, sand toys, cooler, beach umbrella, pack and play, high chair, coffee maker, blender.

The west side of Oahu is not like other islands. The neighbors are Hawaiian. They are family oriented and have great respect for families. They like to do things at their own speed. We try to take that into consideration. You come to Makaha to relax, read a book, run, have a swim or surf. It' very quiet and peaceful.
Makaha is the last neighborhood on the West side of Oahu. There are not as many tourists as the rest of the island. It's very quiet and peaceful. There are miles of undisturbed beaches, great snorkel and dive sites, hikes and a few small shops and restaurants. Kapolei is about half an hour away and has a target, costco, walmart, movie theater and more so the commercial comforts of home are not far away. The west side is a plce to get away and relax!

I am a stay at home Mom of a special needs adult. I have 4 kids, and one grandbaby. Two kids are in college, one at UCSD, the other University of Portland. I live on Point Loma, in San Diego, near Sunset Cliffs. The ocean is an integral part of my everyday. My recent fascination is spinner dolphins. My kids and I swam with them recently. near the house in Makaha. It was exhilarating. I run marathons. I'm going to run the Boston Marathon 2017. I love yoga and reading. My family has been coming to Makaha every summer for 15 years. We feel at home here. The photos we have accumulated over the years. We incorporate the best of the experiences we've had in Makaha, and Oahu, in our home. We would love to share them with you. You will love it. My husband makes surfboards, in his spare time. The house if filled with surfboards he made. I make jewelry from the colored surfboard resin. I upcycle the discard. I sell them on etsy Upcycledsurfgems/ (Website hidden by Airbnb)
