About this listing
The apartment is huge, calm and clean in a doorman building. There are restaurants, bars, museums, live music and art galleries close by. A 5-minute walk to the F, M and J trains gives easy access to all parts of the city. A nice walk to Soho or to Chinatown, or through the Williamsburg bridge to Brooklyn. You get a view of the Empire State Building from the rooftop. City bike and laundry are in front of the entrance. The kitchen is well-equipped, use what you find in my pantry!
The loft (110 sq m (1200 sq ft) ) is in a converted school building, with 13-ft ceilings and large windows, located on the first floor in a quiet street in a great neighborhood. I live and work here so you might find some paintings leaning against the walls. Being a uniquely huge one-bedroom, it is a wonderful refuge form the busy city (you can spread comfortably all of your luggage and your shopping bags, no claustrophobia like in so many New York apartments). I keep my things mostly in the closets so the space has a clean and airy atmosphere. There is a queen size bed in the bedroom and I can provide a comfy queen-size air-bed for additional two guests that can be placed in the bedroom or in the living room. A child or a shorter adult can sleep on a sofa. If you have allergies you are welcome to use my high-grade air purifier.
You have the whole apartment to yourself. The laundry room is on the same floor, and there is dry cleaning and wash-and-fold service directly across the street. Guests can also access the roof deck, which gives great views of lower Manhattan and the Empire State Building. The doorman service is 24 hours.
Interaction with guests
I will be out of the city, but will be in the country and available by phone. Building management, friends and neighbors will be available in person should any issues arise. I will prepare a list with my favorite restaurants and bars in the neighborhood. I can also prepare a special "art" list with the most interesting galleries and museums in town, as well as music venues including experimental and avant-garde jazz. Shall you have any special requests, please let me know.
Other things to note
I can give you free entrance cards to MoMA. In the apartment there is a movie projector you can use with your laptop to screen movies and a black and white printer you are welcome to use.
For parties of 4, please confirm with me before booking if you are not a family. Smoking only outside of the building. I keep my place clean, please respect that.
