About this listing

Very nicely equipped, cosy house in the heart of Sofia. 5min walking to the biggest park in the city, 10min to the biggest stadium Vasil Levski, shopping street Gr.Ignatief, Eagles bridge. Grocery shops, bakeries, tramway, metrostation in 2-5 min.

The space

Sofia is the famous capital of Bulgaria and it has a an amazing history heritage. In the time of the Roman empire the city was called Serdika and it was very famous for it's natural thermal baths. Our house is located in the best place in Sofia - Lozenetz neighborhood - close to the big central park and the important sightseeing places, shops, theaters, opera, restaurants, coffe shops, night clubs. At the same time, the neighborhood has it's own privacy and is very quiet and peaceful. You have to know that Sofia is located in the legs of Vitosha mountain where you could hike, climb or ski/snowboard during the winter season. A very close destination is the Pancarevo lake and the highest Bulgarian mountain - Rila, which hosts the Borovetz Ski Resort.

Guest access

In our home, you are at home. The whole house and garden will be in your disposition. The house has a well equipped kitchen and a beautiful garden, where you can relax, have coffee or even a nice meal, while enjoying the fresh air. Also in the back yard you will have a free parking place for up to 2 cars.

Interaction with guests

Everybody in my familly - son and daughter are fluent in English. I also speak Russian, French and a little bit of German. We could provide information about interesting places to visit and everything you need. The neighbors who live on the second floor of the house are very nice and they also speak English and French. They could be your guides to Sofia and the countryside.

Nice and comfortable apartment. We were happy to be able to use the garden. Situated in a nice area pretty close to the city center. We didn't meet the owner but she was easy to reach and responding quick. We would definitely recommend this apartment!

Unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience and the house did not meet our expectations. There were some serious difficulties with the property and the standards were not as how they were described on the page. The biggest problem is the lack of the second bathroom. The page says there are 2 bathrooms. If you look at the pictures, you do not see the second bathroom; and in fact we did not see it when we first arrived. On our second day we wrote to the property owner and asked about this bathroom. She came to the house to show us what she meant by this. Basically it is a room in the basement of the building which you access through 3 doors and a flight of stairs. It is an underground cellar where all the unused furniture is stored. It is in dire condition. The journey to the toilet involves walking through dirty spaces covered with webcobs and dust. We did not use this bathroom at all as it was inaccessible and honestly awful. There were a few other problems with the property; the flat wasn't very clean, things were either broken or not working properly (shutters and the internet rooter included), there was no garden furniture, and no supplies were provided (from bahtroom supplies to kitchen essentials, such as milk or butter). However, I could have dismissed these problems and not even bother to complain about them if this second bathroom situation wasn't this bad. The owner's response was also puzzling as she saw no problem with this underground space. I find this absolutely unacceptable. The property in itself is pretty with good potential (if maintained properly). The location is good; not in the very centre but within walking distance in a nice quiet residential neighborhood. Due to this misleading bathroom information and the owner's attitude towards this, I do not recommend this property.

This home was very comfortable. It would have been perfect if it had a well functioning internet--I was counting on being able to work from home but the incredibly slow internet connection made that impossible. Communication with the hosts was fast. They were responsive to the few little issues that arose (eg the heating in the bedrooms was not working initially but a technitian was sent who fixed it a couple of days into our stay). The flush in the toilet seemed abnormally weak and didn't flush well--we were told by Mira that's how it always was unfortunately. We wish the garden furniture was out as shown in the Airbnb main picture for full enjoyment of the garden. I guess the owners generally keep it stored in the basement due to occasional rainy weather and only brought out the swing during our stay. Cleanliness was generally good, with a few dusty spots on floors, shelves and drawers. The jacuzzi was a wonderful feature and so were the piano and the books on the shelves between the apartment and the basement (I saw books in Bulgarian and French). With improved internet I would gladly stay here again. The neighborhood streets were a bit too crowded for my taste (with cars parked all over the sidewalks and cars and pedestrians struggling to go through what's left of the narrow streets--unfortunately typical of Central Sofia) which made me hesitant to use the car I had rented and it remained mostly parked in the convenient private parking spot by the house. Other than that, the neighborhood was nice, we appreciated the 24-hour small supermarket two blocks away, as well as a few nice restaurants, the famous "Roman Wall" farmers market and a cute cafe also a quick walk. A pharmacy and all sorts of other stores were also in the immediate vicinity.

We stayed a week at this lovely home in the Lozenetz neighborhood. Mira's place felt just like a home, she had everything you could possibly need to live away from home. The house is also at a great location, with groceries, vegetable/fruit stands, dry cleaners, post office and other services within a short walk. The neighbors upstairs were wonderful people and very helpful. The house has a cute little garden, which is great for little kids and adults to relax in.

Mira was a wonderful host and was very helpful in arranging for additional keys and flexible arrival and departure times. The house was lovely and extremely spacious, even with 6 in our party and the listing was spot on. The air conditioning was a welcome relief from the heat outside during our stay. The location was extremely peaceful during the night, but only around a 10 minute walk to the city centre. We would all happily stay again and highly recommend this Airbnb and host to anyone thinking about a trip to Sofia!
