This is a quiet residential neighborhood just 3/4 mile from the beach. Your bed is made up as a king, but can be separated into two twin beds with advance notice. You'll find everything you need in the cozy room, and in your own bath next door. We love to visit over a simple breakfast of cereal and pastries, but we are happy to give you your own space, too. Rochester has a lot to offer and we love to tell you about it!
We have a private room with king bed (can be separated to form two single beds with advance notice) and you will have your own separate bath in our comfortable home near Lake Ontario beaches. Stay with us and enjoy our garden and quiet neighborhood, walk (about 3/4 mile) to the beach or the coffee shop (about 1 mile), or explore nearby Seabreeze Amusement Park in the summer. In the fall see the beautiful lakes and trees in nearby Durand Eastman Park. There you can play golf in the summer or go sledding or cross-country skiing in winter . Drive (or take the city bus) the short distance to downtown Rochester with its High Falls, historic buildings, and world-class museums like the George Eastman House (photography) and the Strong Museum (National Museum of Play) . And it is just a 1 or 1 1/2 hour drive to the Finger Lakes or Niagara Falls!
We will fix you a light breakfast and you are welcome to use the kitchen, the rest of the house, (including the TV in the family room) and the free wi-fi. We will gladly direct you to some of the area's great restaurants (one of our favorites is the funky rib joint, Dinosaur Barbeque, in an old downtown train station). We know you'll enjoy Rochester and its surroundings!
We do have a bird (cockatiel), we hope you like animals!
Make yourselves at home in the house, including the TV room, the kitchen, and the living room. You are welcome to use the washer and dryer, and to store food in the refrigerator. And if the weather is warm you can enjoy the garden and terrace.
Interaction with guests
We really enjoy getting to know our guests over breakfast. We are generally available to answer your questions, but we do give our guests space to relax or explore on their own.
Other things to note
Your room and bath are off the kitchen, so we provide a privacy screen and robes to keep you comfortable. Our cockatiel can sometimes be noisy so he is moved to another room in the mornings so you can sleep in! Parking is on the side street (our house is on a corner).
No special rules except no smoking indoors
We are a retired college professor and a retired interior decorator who enjoy traveling. We travel to visit our daughter and her family in Seattle, and our son and his family in Pennsylvania. And we enjoy visiting some of our 14 "other kids"--exchange students from around the world who each spent a high school year with us and call us Mom and Dad!
