About this listing

A glorious house, half way up, half way down. We have brought colour and life back into a historic house. Beautifully peaceful, with the buzz of the quays bars and restaurant just a few steps away.

The space

The house is located around Exeter's historic quay, with views of the river ex. The quay has direct access to miles upon miles to cycle paths, linking together a multitude of cafes bars and restaurants. The house it a grade 2 listed property circa 1840. It originally housed the workers on the quay, with the basement used to store goods to be transported along the canal.

Guest access

Guest will have their own room, with access to a guests bathroom. Guest will also have access to the kitchen, with there own fridge and cupboard space. Guest are also welcome to use the courtyard garden. The common areas are also used by us and potentially other guests so a degree of multiple respect is essential.

Interaction with guests

We are willing to spend time with guests and show them around the local area. The local pub called the hourglass is one of the best in Exeter, and we sometimes pop up the pub for a quick half.

House Rules
Check in time is flexible

We are very welcoming and in the past haven't had any particular house rules. But for guests that are planning to stay for a long time we feel that a few ground rules are required.

Additional Guest. We do allow for long term guest to have the occasional guest to stay. What we mean by occasional is one weekend a month something like that.

Daytime: Because we both work from home we do expect that the guests are - more often than not - out of the house during week day working hours.

Use of computer: we can provide a laptop for occasional use, but our computers are off limits.

Pets: We do have a cat therefore the guest has to like cats. If the guest has a pet of there own then we can consider this but must be discussed.

We do reserve the right to change our mind on any of the above, but we would discuss it with you first.

Lisa's house is beautiful and most comfortable. The house has a basin in the room which was very convenient, the lights in the room are very tasteful. There were brochures kept on table which was very thoughtful and Lisa even let us use her bicycle for commuting. I'd recommend this lovely place to everyone.

Lisa's house and room is nice and tidy. The bathroom was very clean and for us alone. We had two great days out in Exeter and the very central location of Lisa's house near the Quay was of a great advantage for this purpose. I can recommend Lisa's accomodation!

Martin welcomed us and showed us round. The house was exactly as described in a lovely part of Exeter. Martin provided us with a parking permit, there was plenty of parking close by. Lovely spacious kitchen with dedicated guest fridge and cupboard space. Beds were blissfully comfortable! Communication with Lisa before hand was very smooth and helpful.

Great location just off the Quay for a few days visiting Exeter. Lisa made us feel very welcome, communication was good and the place was a very clean. The room is very small, just fits in the slide out double bed, but the bed is comfortable and the room is great value for its location.

I had just the one night at Lisa and Martin's, but would recommend it to anyone wanting an authentic slice of Exeter. The house itself is atmospheric, the room bright and cosy, and it's located on a quiet street close to the centre. They were great at keeping in contact, which made my brief stay go very smoothly.
