About this listing

Our cozy upstairs apartment sleeps four. It is located on the Elwha River at the entrance to the Olympic National Park. You may be lucky and see the Roosevelt Elk in the pasture. It is also close to Crescent Lake, the Straight for surfing and Sol Duc Park.

The space

Our upstairs apartment sleeps four. There is a one and a half story set of steps to climb to the apartment. We are on Olympic Hot Springs Rd on the Elwha River, at the entrance to the Olympic National Park. While the river is not visible from our place, you can hear it when it is high. You may be lucky and see the Roosevelt Elk in the pasture if they are down from the mountain. It is also close to Crescent Lake, the Straight for surfing and Sol Duc Park. Olympic Hot Springs is at the end of the road.

A two queen bed apartment with TV, VCR, DVD, Nintendo 64, PlayStation 2, cards, boardgame and stereo. Please note that we are an "unplugged" environment and we do not have regular TV or wifi. Small kitchen with most light basics (tea, coffee, sugar, etc.). Couch and chairs, and 3/4 bath with shower. 100% cotton, high thread count bed sheets and towels.

Apartment, seating area outside and downstairs with picnic table.

Interaction with owners is upon check in and only if guests have a need.

You can hear the Elwha River when the windows are open. The Roosevelt Elk silently show up to fill the pastures with 40+ head of elk every few weeks. The elk are wild and come and go as they please. This is not a ranch where we raise elk, just where they sometimes live. We back up to the Olympic National Forest and are walking distance to the entrance to the Olympic National Park and Madison Falls.
We are dog friendly, having one ourselves.
Our horses are available for your love and attention, but sorry, not to ride.

Clallam County Public Transit stop at corner of Olympic Hot Springs Rd and Hwy 101.

Close access to the park and river for backpacking, hiking, biking, kayaking. Hike up the road to Olympic Hot Springs. Access to the Olympic trail ring and the Olympic Discovery Trail. Close to Crescent Lake, Sol Duc Hot Springs. 12 minute drive to town with access to both Hurricane Ridge, restaurants, shops and the Black Ball Ferry to Victoria, B.C.

Prepare yourself for an awesome stay. Kim and Charles are communicative, wonderful hosts, and their beer bread is fantastic! The apartment itself is clean, comfortable, quiet, and very relaxing. It has a great mountain view, and the bed is very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ghost Herd Ranch! The accommodations were as described and very comfortable. It was outside of town which provided a very peaceful environment but close enough that we could easily get to Port Angeles, Lake Crescent and Hurricane Ridge. We enjoyed meeting Charles (Kim was out of town) who gave us the rundown on the apartment, as well as the chickens, horses, George the dog, the garden, and the wildlife in the area. Our granddaughter had fun playing with George. We would love to return and stay longer. The coffee and craft brews were certainly nice to have available. We also really liked the beer bread and the fresh eggs from the chicken coop! Thanks again Charles & Kim!

Kim and Charle's Ghost Herd Ranch is a lovely 2nd floor apartment in a perfect location, across the road from the river, only a short walk to a beautiful waterfall and a park entrance, central to other park regions for day trips, and a short drive into town. Very clean and reasonably well appointed, including wine glasses, nice big refrigerator, and a small table top convection oven that works for basic meals if you want to eat in. Kim is a wonderful host, with ideas for things to do, and she makes a yummy homemade beer bread. If we're ever back in the area, we'd stay here again!

We enjoy horseback riding on the extensive trails, surfing at the Strait, pets, good food and interesting people. We look forward to seeing you.
