Guests have access to the area immediately surrounding the Bach itself. There is a working oyster farm to the rear and below the Bach. We would ask guests to refrain from removing or interfering with any oysters or equipment therein.

Due to work commitments it is regrettably not possible for me to meet with guests in person. While there is cellphone coverage in most places in the area my work takes me to places where there is poor or no coverage at all. I make every endeavour to access my messages later in the day after work and as coverage improves. There is a message bank on my landline and I check Airbnb regularly.

The road to the property winds down a picturesque landscape overlooking farm lands across the harbour to dazzling white silica sand and harbour and ocean views. Further north on your way to Cape Reinga turn left at Te Paki Stream and hire a boogie board for some dune boarding on the giant sand dunes. After you've been to the Cape wander back to Tapotupotu Beach for a dip in the crystal clear water or wander along the lovely sandy beach. Stop in at Waitiki Landing further south for an icecream and head to Spirits Bay if you have time and enjoy the seemingly endless sandy and shingle beach. If you don't have time continue south and stop at Te Kao store and I'd challenge you to try to finish one of their giant ice cream cones. If you've booked for a couple of nights there's still time to visit either 90 Mile Beach, Rarawa Beach or Henderson Bay. Grab a beer at NZ's northernmost pub at Houhora or sit down to fish and chips at Pukenui. All this within 40-60 minutes of Mother Jimmys Bach. Try it. You won't be disappointed.

A price reduction is offered for 2 nights or more at $100 per night. Just message me to change your booking price to reflect this.

Old house without been repaired or without maintenance in a rural area with farms nearby and with bad smells and full of insects and spiders without any nets Quite and aisolated without any services around It took us a lot of time to find it since we did not have clear instructions on how to arrive We did not have electricity nor water and we tried to call Joyce but she never called us back Too expensive for what is is We do not recommend it Better places around the area

I loved staying at Mother Jimmy's Bach. It was exactly what I was looking for. Secluded, scenic, spacious and basically super! A traditional cottage away from it all. No light pollution - or pollution of any kind really - a very special place. The moon and stars are so bright on a clear night sky. Easy access (in a car) to all the surrounding areas that are a must visit - from Cape the giant sand dunes at Te 90 mile beach. Or if you just want to chill away from it all then just stay at the lovely. Joyce communicates well and check in was easy. Thanks so much Joyce. I hope I can come back. Nick

Mother Jimmies Bach is a very calm place in the middle of pure nature. The driveway is a 4km long gravel road which was nonetheless makeable with our rental car. The accomodation was fully equipped and perfect for our overnight stop before going to Cape Reinga.

We loved the view and isolation of the cottage. It is cosy & comfortable. Kitchen has utensils but you need food, seasonings, cooking oil or catch your own fish and seashells. We had scramble eggs and pipi(edible clam). Bring lots of DVD in case the TV has no signal. Short distance to 90 mile beach, Cape Reinga, Spirit Bay, Te Hapua, walking trails, sand surfing. Bring your own fishing gears, boat/kayak because you can't rent any. If you love star gazing, this is an amazing place for it!!! so have a binoculars/telescope for this stay.
