We live in a quiet residential road a few minutes' walk from Queens Drive (Liverpool's ring road) in the suburb of West Derby. You can catch a bus straight from Liverpool John Lennon Airport, which drops you off a short walk from our house. For later flights there are reasonably priced taxi services. Buses can bring you from the city centre, taking about 20 minutes. If you arrive by car there is free on street parking.
You will be staying in an upstairs bedroom at the rear of the house, looking out over the garden. It has a comfortable double bed, wardrobe and cupboard space. You can use the internet (free wi-fi is included) or watch a DVD (we have a selection of films and TV shows and a portable DVD player).
The bathroom (shower, sink & toilet) is just outside your room but shared with us. The kitchen is available so you can make yourself hot drinks and so on. Tea, coffee, cereals, bread etc. are provided for your breakfast and you will be welcome to cook your own breakfast food if you prefer. If the weather is good, spend an hour in the sun in our back garden.
The house is a short walk from Croxteth Country Park and Hall. In the centre of West Derby village, there is a Courthouse dating from around 1586. West Derby has a good range of restaurants, pubs and takeaways. A couple of minutes walk from the house is an entrance to the Trans Pennine Trail, a 215 mile national cycle and walking route. It stretches from Southport on the west coast to Hornsea on the east. About ten minutes walk along Queens Drive is a Marks and Spencer Foodhall and an Aldi supermarket. There are other nearby shopping areas at Tuebrook, Old Swan and Norris Green. Liverpool city centre is three miles away and you can walk there, via Newsham Park, in about an hour, or take one of the numerous handy buses or a taxi. Other trips out on the bus include Sefton Park, Lark Lane and Woolton, while the football grounds are within a mile or two and you can get there on foot or in a taxi. Further afield, why not take a trip to Crosby beach and see Gormley's Another Place (the Iron Men) or other seaside locations such as Southport or The Wirral?
