The space

The house has been whimsically decorated with Baltimore themed art and photos, vintage beverage posters, and an unusual cork wall. Three hi-def TVs, a stereo system, and wi-fi present numerous entertainment options. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you may need to prepare meals.

My family with an infant stayed in this house and it was the best and most comfortable and central place we have stayed. We highly recommend this place, especially if you are a family with kids. It was really comfortable to move in and out if you're walking. Kind of difficult if you depend on driving. We parked and walked everywhere from the Lancaster house. Definitely coming back!

My friends and I were in town for a wedding and had a wonderful stay at Richard's place. The location could not have been more ideal, right in the heart of Fell's Point and walking distance from lots of cute restaurants, coffee shops and bars. The house was super cute and cozy, and Richard was super accommodating with our check-in time. I would highly recommend a stay at Lancaster House!

Location is excellent. Everything is available. Well stocked with paper products, laundry necessities. Staircase and steps narrow and steep, but fully disclosed. Living room furniture could be cleaned/updated. Toilet off bedroom visibly cracked.

Great home, great location. Richard was exceptionally communicative and made it easy for us to stay in Fells Point. The home was clean, comfortable, and, again, was in a prime location. Would definitely stay again!

Great central location in Fells Point. We had no trouble finding street parking during the week or the weekend. Parked within 1 block. Would stay here again.

Richard's place in Fell's Point is probably one of the best locations in Baltimore. So many great things about this property but most of all, it is the host Richard. He was very generous to allow our guests to check-in early and out late as they had early arrival and late departure flight times. We had two cars also, and he has a parking pass for one and there is a good covered parking garage just 2-3 blocks away that is secure and inexpensive. A definite plus of Richard's place is the Water Taxi passes that are available for guests and they save a lot of money to take you to the ball stadium and many areas around Fell's Point and Inner Harbour and also, just to take a nice boat ride around the harbours, which we did. The house itself has so much character (maybe the only part some wouldn't like is the winding staircase - but even that would be manageable for most - we are 70 and managed it). Richard has thought of almost every convenience but who wants to spend much time in the house when the area has sooooo much to offer. There are unlimited selections of restaurants and bars within a 5-6 block walking area. Lots of small shops to visit. And then if you want to go further afield even more restaurants and bars and the ball park in the inner harbour, along with lots of attractions that would amuse children and adults alike. We used the wifi with no problems. Richard leaves a supply of coffee/tea and a nice supply of towels and bathroom products. We did not use the washer/dryer but it is there if needed with supplies also. The second half bath is in this area and is on the main floor so convenient for daily use. We used the small loft over the kitchen area and it is a futon type mattress but was reasonably comfortable/firm. The queen bedroom on the floor was very comfortable as well, but our other guests used the top floor bedroom and found the bed too soft (but sometimes that is a personal preference). The bathroom was large and well equipped. Can't say enough about this host and his house, Fell's Point, just loved it all! Didn't have a bad meal all the time were there so don't know where to start on restaurant recommendations. Would definitely recommend this rental to anyone who is able to manage stairs.

I purchased the house in 1978, when it was barely a shell. My wife Judy and I lived in it for several years while I was renovating it. We moved out in the mid-80s, and the office for my advertising agency was located here for a while. Then it was rented as a residence for a decade. In 2003, I undertook another major renovation, furnished the house, and began renting short-term. Since then, hundreds of guests have enjoyed the ambiance of Lancaster House, and I have enjoyed meeting and making friends with many of them.
