Gordes is part of "The Most Beautiful Villages" association. In the village, you'll find local food shops and many cafes and restaurants. Tuesdays are market days, with local grocers and tipical provencal goods. Supermarkets and commercial centres are a short drive away.
From Gordes, you can easily access all other villages and points of interest of the Provence region, starting from the magnificent Abbaye de Senanque accessible even by foot from the house.
Gordes is located 20 minutes away from the A6 motorway, 45 min from Avignon train station, 1h from Marseille International Airport.
How to find the property: The property is called "Les Truffiers" located on Chemin Les Dilais. Some Satnav don't show the lane so you might have to follow our directions:
When approaching the village, after climbing the hill, you pass the look-out of the village and keep going towards the village. Soon after, turn on the left road "Venasque-Abbaye de Senanque" (the right turn will get you to the village centre). After 500m or so, you will officially exit the village (a sign with Gordes crossed in red). A few meters later, there is a dead-end lane on your left with "Les Dilais" mentioned. Take that lane, you will soon be driving between narrow stone walls. Les Truffiers is located on the right (just after the property called Le Grenier), with a blue wooden gate.
Interaction with guests
Our house in Gordes is a holiday place so we won't be able to meet you there, but our housekeeper, Guillaume, lives nearby and comes and checks on the house all year long. He's the one who will show you around, answer any question and be available any time to help you in case of problem. You can contact him on +(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). In case of major problem, please contact us via airbnb.
Other things to note
In the house at your arrival, you will find a guidebook with all the information you need to find your way around the house. Also, there will be information about our favourite places, activities, shopping places, and every address you might need during your stay. You might want to add your favourite places too for guests coming after you!
Of course we expect you to behave like you would like other people to behave in your own house! We've set up the house in a simple and easy way to maintain as we have small children and we want them to enjoy their holiday time as much as we do. But we have raised our children with the concept of taking care of things, so it's not all "Ikea style" and it is decorated to suit adults taste. So please no wet swimming costumes on sofas, cigarettes buts in the swimming-pool or chocolate biscuits in the bedrooms...
I'm a French woman in my thirties, married with an Italian, living in England with our 4 young children. We like sun, good food, time with our friends and travels. This is why a few years ago we have decided to buy our house in Gordes. Gordes is our little piece of paradise, our ever shining resting place, where children can play all day outside blessed by the sun, the sound of birds and the smell of rosemary. In a word, our reward to us all ! We even decided to have a break from our hectic city lives last year and spent 6 months living in Gordes, time to give birth to our younger daughter (thus my profile photo!).
