Once a fisherman’s village that essentially lived off the capture of tuna, people made a living by building huts (cabanas) where they’d store the tools for fishing, and spend the night when necessary, hence the designation “Cabanas”.
It is still a very calm and privileged place today, having been rebuilt alongside the estuary.
Cabanas is separated from the beach by a body of water which is an integral part of the estuary. The beach is accessible by boat, and this form of transportation is provided by local fisherman.
Cabanas beach offers diversions such as kite surf and sailing lessons, as well as two bars with food and beverages.
The road by the seacoast (marginal) has cafes, bars, restaurants and some convenience stores, besides a pedestrian walkway along the estuary, which allows you to appreciate the beautiful natural scenery while fisherman catch clams and cockle.
