A basic small Studio on ground floor in a family house in downtown Reykjavik. It is totally downtown with all services, entertaining and cultural essence but please read the description for more information.

The space

Ground floor in central Reykjavik. A small studio with one bedroom with either two single beds or one 1.80cm wide bed, and a small kitchen where you can easily prepare a simple meal, and a small dining area combined, a free Wi-fi internet.
A small Toilette in the hallway "But no shower or a bathtub" A very nice thermal pool with hot tubs and a steam bath outside is within five minutes walking distance through a nice neighborhood. Excellent showers both inside and outside.
The Reykjvik thermals are famous for there healthy and clean atmosphere and local people of all ages love to go there.
If you read comments from my guests you can see that they are all very happy to have had the reason to go there. It is an experience.
The opening hours are very user friendly and open all days a week, the charge there is around 3 to 4 EUR:
There are lots of outdoor thermal pools in Reykjavik and they are all very clean and all have hot tubs and steam baths and outside showers as well.
But the local one in my neighborhood is only five minutes away.

There is a single room on the same floor also rented out on Airbnb, and the guests there use the same toilette.
It is also possible of course, to rent the whole floor.
It could be very convenient if people are traveling with children for example.
We, me and my family, live on the floor above.
That is me Helga, My partner Omar, my daughter St.Lilja, my five year old grandson Biel.

The airport bus terminal is 15 to 20 minutes walk from the house, an easy walk through a nice neighborhood especially if your luggage is manageable. But it is also very easy to grab a taxi, it is only a few minutes drive.

The house is in the heart of the city but still the street is rather quiet at night.
You are in two minutes walking distance from the main street, the oldest shopping and restaurant street in Reykjavik, and all the design and posh shops in Reykjavik.
Also this is the next street to where the famous church 'Hallgrimskirkja' Stands, where you can enter the tower and get a fabulous view of the city.
The old down town marina with all the whaling tours and small coffee places, local restaurants in the old fishing sheds and bars is only a few minutes away but also so very close to all the cultural and entertaining side of Reykjavik, the main galleries and the music hall.

Guest access

Wi-fi. A basic kitchen.

Very clean and cozy place right in central Reykjavik. It is close to all the food and shopping you could want. This is the perfect place to stay if you're a traveler on a budget!

We spent 9 nights here and it was super great! Helga was quick to respond to my messages and communication was clear, helpful, and mostly accurate. The location was FANTASTIC. Right in the city centre, a few minutes to the main street, but still quiet. Bonus grocery store was right around the corner, which was perfect because we did a lot of our own cooking to save money. The bed was extremely comfortable and the blinds and curtains were sufficient to keep the light out, which is impressive given that the sun never fully set. The only issue we came across was that we were informed the public baths in the city centre were close, and they were, but when we walked over the facility was closed indefinitely for renovations. Luckily we had a rental car so we were able to go to the public baths slightly west of the city centre. However, we loved the experience of relaxing in the warm outdoor pools and it was a wonderful facility!! All in all, we highly recommend this airbnb!

Helgas place is great! It's very central - and you can walk to the grocery store in 2 minutes. There's also paid parking right out front and checking in was very simple and finding the place was easy too. The actual studio was quite antique like which was interesting but a bit outdated and dusty. Other then that it really is a great deal for the price. The bed is temperpedjc or something so comfy! It wasn't too loud but we didn't stay over the weekend so that may be different. Overall very good for two people.

We had a really nice stay at Helgas cozy place. The apartment is really central and pretty much as described. Only downside to mention: the next public bath/ pool is permanently closed for construction... so taking a shower in the morning becomes little bit complicated, since the next public pool is a longer walk.

I am a film maker, writer, and a family woman, my family is very involved in the arts. I love music and my favorite food is seafood and lamb and I love the restaurants in the neighborhood, especially the seefood restaurand on skólavörðustígur, "Sjávargrillið" "Seagrill".
I have a motto and it is to relaxe and make the best of everything.
