The space

Fernhill Meadow is relaxed and welcoming to all visitors, the cabin has a well appointed bedroom and sitting area, with a galley kitchen, fridge, microwave, small oven & hob.
As you may note from listing there is a sofa bed in the lounge this can readily accommodate a third adult or two children if required charges for such by negotiation
The Cabin has parking and a supply of logs for the wood burner. Hot water for the en suite shower and sink are heated separately.
All guests are met and any special needs (or wet weather gear can be organised). Three take-away food outlets are nearby, there are a couple of local shops - Spar & Tesco Express within a mile. The space is a great location for rambling, walking and access to the Island cycle paths. A hot home made sharing supper is always available, delivered from the main house to the cabin door to enjoy in front of the log burner. There is a barn facility to wash clothes, boots or muddy gear.
Wifi is not listed as a facility however there is a signal that gives some intermittent cover

Guest access

There are no restrictions on access to any parts of the orchard, woodland or gardens. Breakfast if required is usually served at the main house kitchen table - viewing the peacocks, chickens and red squirrels by the side of the wood burner. You may be greeted in the garden by the friendly family dogs.
We are a tranquil rural site and we ask our guests to help that tranquility but remember you are in country with all the sounds of nature to hand

Interaction with guests

There is always a member of our team to assist and meet any needs that present whilst you share our space at Fernhill
We offer a free collection service from ferries for guests arriving as foot passengers

Other things to note

Fernhill is a working small holding (some 3 acres) of mixed rural industries. We have a smoke house on site, a barn and other small outbuildings. It is sited at the bottom of a secluded lane. Wellies or boots are essential in the winter months.
While there is adequate parking for motor cars and under cover standing may be provided for motorcycles and bicycles no indemnity is implied or given for such vehicles which are on our site at owners risk
The IOW is a tranquil largely rural place with a gentler pace of life
The major industry on the island is tourism and has been a popular holiday destination for many decades
Good clean beaches
Almost every weekend through the summer from April to October there is a festival of some description on the island for interests ranging from chart topping live music, steam engines, the arts and theatre. Many popular comedians include an IOW venue on their nationwide tours
If required a service wash laundry service is available at a small additional charge

I live on the Island & looked for somewhere I could go with my two little dogs for a relaxing break to rest and recoup. This cabin was perfect! We felt very welcome. The welcome pack was wonderful, the fluffy dressing gown was a bonus and the wood burner made the cabin so cosy. We will definitely be back

If you want to get away from the workaday world and enter a different, better place, come here. The orchard, the animals and twinkling lights at night, wood burner chugging away and the wafting smoke from the garlic smoker will totally transport you. It is a dreamlike place with all the warmth of a family giving you a big hug. Magic!

We had such a wonderful time visiting Fernhill Meadow. It is a beautiful place, we stayed in the log cabin in the orchard and it was extremely peaceful and relaxing. The cabin was well equipped and there were so many thoughtful touches, with a hamper waiting for us when we arrived with cheese, wine, homemade chutney and marshmallows for the fire! The setting was beautiful - the orchard was full of apples and pears, there was a little pond and our daughter was fascinated by the peacocks wandering around. Jim and Sue were very welcoming and happy to help with any questions we had. We would very much recommend a trip to Fernhill Meadow.

Communication with Jim was great at the point of booking and just before arrival. We met at the agreed spot - so I could be directed down the right lane. The cabin was in a lovely secluded spot - it certainly allowed me time to sit quietly and enjoy the wonderful surroundings. The two dogs were brilliant and not forgetting the rest of the menagerie. Sue and Jim had left a wonderful welcome hamper in the cabin and it certainly came in handy. Would recommend people to stay here if you want peace and quiet.
