This home is perfect for those looking for a truly private and tranquil retreat or a base camp for adventure. It is tucked away in the quiet Queen's Bath neighborhood, though still close to beautiful beaches, shopping and dining.

The space

This Hawaiian-style home has open plan living with vaulted ceilings and louvered windows that allow the island trade winds to naturally cool the inside. The expansive lanai extends living to the outdoors, with lounging, barbequing and dining in the tropical garden paradise. Luxuriate in the double person hammock under the shade of the mango tree. Snorkel the reef at Hideaways or hike the trail to the waterfall, steps away from Nalu house. After playing in the ocean, enjoy the secluded outdoor shower. Each bedroom is unique, with the entrance to additional sleeping quarters, The Twilight Room, through the garage. 'Nalu' means wave in Hawaiian and this home epitomizes the spirit of 'Aloha.'

Great house and great location. Walking distance to Queen's bath. Easy drive to all beaches. Comfortable living space and bedrooms. Only problem was dryer was not working.

The Nalu house was the perfect place for my family and I to stay during our recent trip. The home is well-located, the hosts were very responsiveness, and the house was exactly as described. The backyard is lovely and offers privacy, as well. You do have to get to the third bedroom by walking through the garage, but it wasn't an issue at all. We'd definitely stay here again.

We had a great time while staying at Nalu. The location was terrific, with easy walks to Queen's Bath and longer walks (or very short drives) to the St. Regis or Foodland market. The drive to Hanalei town is a quick 10 minutes. The house was very comfortable, and, for the most part, exactly as advertised. The palm-shaded outdoor shower was a treat, and the promised tropical cross-breeze kept us very comfortable and the big beautiful backyard and grill. There's a nice supply of snorkeling gear, beach towels, boogie boards, and beach umbrellas. A heads-up notes for visitors: the listing does explain that the extra third bedroom is through the garage, but until we got here we didn't realize just how much a part of the garage it might be. We'd assumed the kids would go there, but the room doesn't have a curtain on the window, and either you enter the house at night by walking through the dark garage OR you leave a light on, which shines through louvres that open to the garage. Our kids could not maneuver the door in and out of the garage but it could work for a family with older kids who appreciate the separate space and don't mind sleeping next to a car! Given a clearer understanding of the third-room setup we'd certainly recommend the Nalu house for visitors to the beautiful North Shore.

This rental was amazing. It made our experience more home like. You have a lovely comfortable home and had everything that I wanted. For 6 nights...we felt like locals.
