A fabulous 2 bedroom apartment with 2 large, adjacent roof terraces + private parking, 4 mins walk from the historic city centre, castle, cathedral, shops, and restaurants. Otranto is a historic city with a lovely castle & cathedral and stunning sea.
This 2 bedroom apartment is modern and comfortable with air conditioning in both bedrooms, and is new to the market. The kitchen opens out onto a large private roof terrace, with covered coperta and lighting, overlooking fields for the obligatory alfresco dining. There is also direct access to a further large private sun roof terrace (i.e. for this apartment only) with sun loungers and day round sunshine and great views at sunset. An hour’s drive from Brindisi airport (served by Ryanair), there is also a private garage in the gated apartment complex and a supermarket and fish market within a minute’s walk.
There is a remote control for the gates into the apartment complex for drivers. There is secure (i.e. lockable) underground parking. There is a maximum height restriction of 195cm. There is an entry phone to let visitors into the gated complex. There is also a lift as well as stairs to access the upper floors, though there are a few stairs before the lift so it is not suitable for wheelchair access. The property is non-smoking but it is OK outside on the terraces. There is wi-fi available and a digital TV, DVD player and a Bose sound dock for ipods/iphones etc as well a few CDs, DVDs and PC games for those bringing laptops. There are also some games (chess, backgammon, Monopoly, cards). There are a handful of books and also some nice, topical cookbooks for those wanting to make use of the great local markets.
Bedroom 1 has a large double bed, air conditioning and a large built in wardrobe. Bedroom 2 has 2 twin beds, cupboards and drawers. It also has air conditioning and a door to an outside balcony facing other apartments. All furniture is new and bedding is provided. The air conditioning also acts as heating if ever required. There is a fold up bed that can be used for a 5th person. There is also a very large sofa in the sitting room which can be used as a bed if absolutely needed. There is also a fold up cot for a baby (always read instructions).
Guests will have use of the entire flat and access to both terraces and private garage. WE CAN ONLY ACCEPT MINIMUM BOOKINGS OF 2 WEEKS OUTSIDE OF AUGUST WHEN 1 WEEK BOOKINGS ARE WELCOME.
We have a local, professional couple in Salient who manage the property rentals for us - they live locally and are at the end of the phone / email 24/7 to help, as necessary..
This is the correct side of town to be for the easiest walking access to the market, marina and the historic town centre and its wonderful restaurants. It is the far side of town from the busiest tourist residential district in Summer.
There is so much to see and do. There is no need for a car in Otranto as everything is walkable, though there is a private garage under the apartment. Buses go to many of the nearby towns such as Lecce and the bus stop is 2 minutes from our apartment.
Otranto itself is a historic, walled city with a lovely castle and cathedral and a stunning seafront. Pretty, cobbled and car-free lanes wind through the compact city and are packed with fantastic restaurants and bars. The town also has beautiful beaches and the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic Sea.
Salento: Otranto is also a perfect base to discover and explore the local region of Salento. Highlights include the beautiful coastal road south of Otranto - with views and grottos, it is often likened to the Amalfi coast - and the long sandy beaches north of the town. The gorgeous baroque city of Lecce (the ‘Florence of the South’) is 30 minutes drive away, as is the fishing port of Gallipoli and the beaches and resorts of the west of the peninsula on the Ionian Sea. Among the many other places of interest are the ‘white city’ of Ostuni and the conical trulli of Alberobello, as are the wonderful churches in Galatone and Galatina, and the pretty port of Porto Cesarea.
Puglia: Puglia is unspoilt Italy and is legendary for its food and wine, thanks to its year round sunshine and clear blue waters. The olives, fish and both red and white vino are fabulous and are an integral part of any holiday in the region. The weather is warm throughout the year and July and August are full of festivals and music that celebrate this wonderful town.
We have no reviews on Airbnb as we are new to it, though we have used it to rent ourselves. We have been renting for many years on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) and have many 5 star reviews there. We can send you the links to see them and our own website when we connect.
The apartment is in the quieter residential area so it is not party central. Suits families and couples looking to chill out. The apartment is thoroughly cleaned between rentals but please leave it in a similar state to how you found it.

My name is David, I am British but also have a Canadian passport, and my wife Johanna is Finnish. We've been married for 28 years (but married young!) and we have 3 sons aged between 20 and 27.
I work in publishing and now run my own company ( and Johanna is a primary school teacher.
We live in the UK in Kingston upon Thames, on the south east of London, right beside Richmond Park. We also have an apartment in Fulham, London that we rent out on long term lettings, and an apartment in Otranto in Puglia,( Italy that we rent out on You can see reviews of both us and our apartment on these sites. As a result, we understand the concerns of those who rent out their properties and we are very good guests! We understand that you want people to respect your property and leave it in the same condition as how they found it - so we do. We also have a summer cottage in Finland that we do not rent out.
We both love travelling and have done so fairly extensively over the last 30 years. We enjoy both city breaks in Europe and more extensive holidays in long haul destinations around the world. We both love reading and also art, culture, museums, bars, restaurants and good food & wine. I am a rugby nut and have travelled extensively with that agenda too. We love to walk everywhere and so the location of places we stay is important to us.
We are new to Airbnb and are keen to learn and experience it. We wish to rent our own house out when we do longer trips and so we are keen to make it work well!
