A lovely riad, with lots of authentic furnishing and decorations and an immense French language paperback library in a great location in the Medina.

This is a whole traditional Riad on 4 floors which is open to the sky in the central area. There are 3 bedrooms and bathrooms so can sleep 7 I think. We had the whole place to ourselves for 2 of us and only used the ground and first floor.Note there is not really anywhere to eat apart from the coffee table in the central living area which is fine for breakfast but might be difficult with a larger group. There are no photos of the roof terrace, but there is small one on the top, 4th floor up some steep stairs. It is quite basic with only 2 sunbeds and no table or sun shades. It gets the sun until about 1.30pm. so is good for sunbathing and quite private. The decoration and lighting in the house is lovely and quite bohemian. You can hear the sea from the house which is nice. The lovely maid came every day and cooked pancakes for breakfast with coffee/ juice/ bread. We bought our own fruit and yogurt from the local market. She also met us on arrival and took us to the house which was great as it might be hard to find otherwise. She was delightful and very polite. We didnt meet the owner but he communicated well about our arrival.

Response from Bruno:
Thank you for your constructive feed back. Soory the dust but with the strong wind blowing during your stay it's difficult to keep it clean because of the traditional construction with open patio. Also I will check the wiring of the stairs.

We loved staying here! After reading a previous review we were worried the place would be cold as we were traveling with a baby. Bruno kindly provided an extra heater, however we didn't need it as we found the bedrooms cosy enough. We enjoyed looking up through the centre of the house and seeing the sky, you are in the heart of the medina but it is peaceful to sleep as the street is quiet. Yes, the place is rustic but we enjoyed this. What really made it for us was the lady that came to make breakfast and dinner for us. The food was fabulous, and our baby loved her! Would stay here again.

We hugely enjoyed our stay here but as someone else said below felt maybe it needs a good going through to sort out a few niggling defects. The location is great and the lady who comes in to prepare breakfast also wonderful and kindly lent my partner a hair dryer. We enjoyed using the fireplace and the other facilities ... the showers work well, plenty of hot water and the wonderful, wild colours of the furnishings. Whilst we loved the subdued Moroccan lighting we would suggest one proper reading light be provided for those whose eyesight are less than perfect who want to read in bed. But overall we loved staying here.

Bruno was a wonderful host! Great communication even though I was late getting him our arrival time. He even helped arrange a taxi from the airport for my sister which made everything stress-free! The riad is in a central location and easy to find once you get there the first time - but in a residential area a couple turns from the main walking roads so it's not loud. Essa is so beautiful and I wish we stayed 4 days instead of 3! The riad is decorated with so much color and lovely bohemian decor. We loved all the lamps and woven seats. The space felt very inviting and creative. Breakfast was fresh made breads/crepes, jam, honey, tea/coffee, and the housekeeper was very sweet although we spoke no Arabic or French so talking with her was a bit awkward, but that didn't bother us. We did crave eggs and fruit and were able to buy some at small shops outside the immediate neighborhood. We stayed with friends and everyone was very pleased with the riad and had a wonderful time! The water was consistently hot and the wifi worked well in the first floor bedrooms and courtyard (but not the sitting nook.) We were also traveling with my 1.5 year old daughter and she loved all the low seating. The stairs are steep, so we carried her up/down- perhaps not recommended if you are wobbly. In general, everything was wonderful and I can't wait to come back and stay here again!
