Away from the crowds, my home in Cooks Beach is just a short drive from Cathedral Cove/Hahei, Hot Water Beach, the passenger ferry to Whitianga Town and all the amazing activities the Coromandel has to offer. My Studio has been renovated into a large private room, with a small kitchenette and a lounge area for relaxing in after a day of exploring the area or arriving from the airport. Free WiFi and off street parking available. I am always here to greet my guests.
Your private studio is located at the far end of my beautiful, spacious, eclectic, California style home. It has a small kitchenette, for light cooking - microwave, jug, toaster, a bar refrigerator and dishes etc. There is a full size BBQ available for cooking out on your own private patio area.
I supply tea, coffee, milk, cereal, yogurt, seasonal fruit, bread, butter and jams.
There is a small dining table to eat meals at or use for planning your adventures on the internet.
The large lounge area has custom cane chairs, foot stool and table. I have an extensive collection of DVD's that I am happy to share with you to watch on the tv in the room.
The private entrance to the room has a patio and a bbq to cook your favourite foods outside. There is another large deck in the front of the house that you are welcome to lounge on, soaking up the sun or enjoying drinks in the evening.
The queen bed has Egyptian cotton sheets, sheep underlay and an electric blanket. Extra blankets are available along with plenty of pillows.
There is a large bathroom located next to your room with a walk in style shower with seat. There is a toilet and double sinks. Heated towel racks, towels and a supply of soaps and shampoos.
Guests have their own, separate entrance. There is plenty of parking on my property. Whether you a wanting a quiet place to retreat to, or spinoff accommodation for family occasions, I am delighted to share my life and its amazing journey, with you. I also enjoy socialising and you are welcome to join in the main house living area.
Interaction with guests
Cooks Beach is central to all the scenic spots the guide books highlight in the area and I am happy to share with you the secret spots that I have grown up with. I even wrote a little book on local history of the area that has become quite a hit. I did live in the States, for a number of years and owned an airport in California before I returned home to NZ to retire, so you can consider me your "flight attendant" to the Coromandel, and I am more than happy to share my knowledge with you.
Other things to note
My home is suitable for single women travelling on their own or mature couples. I am a young 70 plus, a professional artist, enjoying life and meeting and hosting people from around the world.
I would expect you to treat my home as you would your own. I have spent my life time collecting all the treasures that I surround myself with, making my home very special to me. If anything should break or be broken please let me know. I don't have any pets at this time, but my family, who live nearby, have dogs and birds they bring over, I have even babysat them in the past, if you have a pet you need to bring, I am open to to the idea, lets discuss it. If you smoke, please do so outside and use an ashtray I will provide for you. If your require laundry services you may use my washing machine. I charge $12 a load. I have no dryer so will be line dried.
70 something years on this planet, ‘OH THE PLACES YOU’LL GO” Born and raised here in NZ, I was told I would be a secretary, jumped on a ship to California and became the Artist I was supposed to be. Stayed in mostly Southern California for many years with successful businesses where I was able to explore all the different mediums that art has to offer: sculpture, pottery, macramé, painting….Just for kicks, ended up owning and operating an airport. Finally retiring and returning home to NZ and the magic of The Coromandel. I still paint, I don't believe I could retire from that, it is just something that I am. I surround myself lovely things, my home reflects my lifetime collection of treasures. I find the Airbnb opportunity to be exciting, connecting with people from all over the globe.
