About this listing
This small studio unit is situated in full day sun, on a 2 1/2 acre rural property 12 kms east of Arthur's Pass village, on the boundary of Arthur's Pass National Park. Surrounded by native beech forest it is a haven for birdlife.
The Loft contains a queen bed, and a twin-seater pull-out couch (more suitable for children than adults), en-suite bathroom and small kitchenette containing microwave, electric fry pan, fridge + cutlery, crackers etc.
Guests are free to access The Loft (via stairs) and grounds, including pond.
Keys will be in a lock box of which details will be provided closer to your stay.
Interaction with guests
Due to my wandering ways I may, or may not be around to greet you on arrival, but with access information you are able to move in immediately and make yourselves at home.
Also - initial contact may take longer than 12 hours due to lack of cell coverage and internet (cell is available in Arthur's Pass and internet across the road at the Bealey Hotel), so please be patient should you not hear from me.
Arthur's Pass village (10 min by car) hosts a Department of Conservation (DOC) Visitor Information Centre, a village Store (incl petrol/diesel, but with limited provisions), restaurants, bar, communications, and numerous walking tracks.
The adjacent Bealey Hotel offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, - and communications in the form of WIFI and public phone.
Bealey is a gateway to numerous day/overnight walks, mountain bike trails, hunting, fishing, caving, rock climbing, skiing and general outdoor activities.
Access to Bealey Spur and Waimakariri River tracks is within walking distance. Many Arthur's Pass day/overnight treks are within 10 min drive.
Daily public buses will stop at the Hotel. If arriving by train, a local transfer service may be available - please enquire when booking.
Other things to note
Please be aware that Bealey is an isolated place. It is 12kms to the nearest village where there is a store with very limited supplies (no fresh veg). If you are wishing to grocery shop it is advisable to do so on the West Coast (Greymouth or Hokitika) or in Christchurch on the East Coast before heading up to the mountains.
Please do not feed the wildlife, they are more than able to fend for themselves!
If using the pull-out couch, linen is in the wardrobe. Please put mattress protector down first, followed by both sheets, then duvet and pillows. Upon leaving please pack duvet, pillows and mattress protector away, leaving linen/towels out for the cleaner.
Please ensure all dishes are clean and stored in their rightful places, and that bed are stripped, and dirty laundry is placed on the floor (in bathroom if damp).
Due to Bealey's remoteness, and my comings and goings, it would be very much appreciated is rubbish could be taken with you on departure. (Rubbish skips are in Arthur's Pass and Springfield)
Thanking you in advance and, with appreciation.....
I am very passionate about travel and the wilderness, whether mountaineering, trekking, hunting, fishing, exploring some distant corner of the globe, or taking photographs - the expectation of heading away somewhere keeps me enthusiastic about life.
