A huge room in a colonial house in the center of Quetzaltenango. The room is furnished with a comfortable double bed and cosy duvets and shares a new bathroom. *we offer discount weekly/monthly prices

The space

The house is a traditional colonial style house set around an open flower filled courtyard, that is why we named the different rooms after flowers (like Cala, which is a white lily) The rooms are wooden or tile floored and share a kitchen and a small tiled bathroom which you access by crossing the patio. This is not a hostel, we just have a couple of rooms that we rent (you can see our other listings for details and reviews). Please contact us for special offers on the weekly and monthly rate (the calendar will not calculate always it correctly).

Guest access

Guests have the use of the fully equipped kitchen and a shared bathroom across the courtyard. Guests have their own key and can come and go and they please.

Interaction with guests

We live in the building in a separate apartment, and we have a resident caretaker looking after the space and our guests. We can leave you to your own devices should you wish, or we are here to help with Spanish study, travel arrangements, tips for cafes and restaurants or anything else you need.

Other things to note

- We have been informed the airbnb map is wrong and shows the house in a different area. It really is in zone 1, a few blocks from central park.
- We offer further discounts for guests studying at our nearby Spanish language school (please contact us for details)
- Shared kitchen (gas stove and oven, fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, free drinking water, tea and coffee)
- Shared tiled bathroom with electric shower. You have to cross the patio to access it (we also have a newly installed water deposit and pump on site).
- Towels provided
- Guests get keys to their room and the front door (come and go as you please)
- WIFI 24 hours
- Dog (husky) and cat hang out in the courtyard
- We encourage all guests to turn off lights when not using them, and to be conservative with their use of water. We use a ceramic water filter for drinking water so we don´t use plastic bottles, and energy saving lightbulbs throughout the house. We recycle cans and paper through a local recycling initiative and encourage our guests to correctly dispose of all their recyclable rubbish in the bags provided.

I could not have asked for a better place to stay during my time in Xela! The house itself is beautiful, with a nice open courtyard in the middle that serves as an excellent space to relax, read, work, etc. The wifi throughout the house is fast and very reliable. The location is very close to the center of town (Parque Central), and thus within walking distance of just about anything you could want or need in Xela (restaurants, grocery stores, cafes, markets, shops, bars, etc.) Despite being in such a lively area, the house and courtyard are actually quite quiet. The room itself is very spacious, with a nice window, a desk to work, and plenty of places to store your clothing and other things. The shared bathrooms are kept very clean (and the showers are hot). They are located outside in the courtyard, meaning you will have to leave your room to go to the bathroom. This can be inconvenient if it is raining, but it's never more than 10 seconds away so it was never a problem for me. The kitchen has everything you need, and the location could not be better. The house is very safe and secure, with a big wooden door and a metal gate to the inside. Jocelyn and Fernando are excellent hosts, very helpful, friendly, and communicative. Upon arrival, my room included a nice customized guide with Jocelyn and Fernando's recommendations covering everything I needed to know, which was extremely helpful for orienting to a new city. Mishka (the husky) and Maurice (the cat) are always fun to have around as well, especially if you enjoy playing a good game of fetch. I strongly recommend this place to anyone planning on visiting Xela for a short or long period of time, whether you're coming for business, adventure (the house is located near several private tour companies that can take you just about anywhere), or study (Jocelyn runs a popular Spanish school, Utatlán). The fact that there are several Airbnbs to choose from in the same house means that you'll probably get the chance to meet some other awesome travelers during your stay too! I definitely plan on staying here again the next time I'm in Xela.

Beautiful, spacious room (the size of two or three hotel rooms) with a private entrance from the patio. Located on a very well-lit street close to Central Park. The kitchen and bathroom were well stocked. Jocelyn was very friendly and offered lots of helpful info about the city. Rooms book quickly.

Jocelyn's house is a fantastic place to discover the really nice city of Xela. Not far from the city center, in a quiet area, this is the perfect place to disconnect and enjoy the instant. Jocelyn and fernando are also very communicative, greatly helped by Don Romeo, who welcome you and takes care of you with professionalism. Thank you so much for everything !

This place is beautiful! We liked the room very much: cosy, plenty of space and a nice bed. Jocelyn provided us with a map with a lot of information of Xela, which was very nice! We had diner in restaurant Panorama, with a nice view and delicious cheesefondue, don't miss it!

Great place to stay for the price. Friendly, helpful hosts and staff. Good in-room info. Did not use the kitchen during a short stay but it looked well-equipped. I did have to go outside a short distance on cold Xela nights to get to the bathrooms, but they were immaculately clean. Overall very happy
