At the crossroads of Africa and Europe, the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean, Tangier has an individual character. It is one of the oldest cities in Morocco.
The Melting Pot is located in the heart of Tangier, in the Medina...

The space

It is a Dar, that is a traditional Moroccan house. There is a big kitchen, computers at your disposal, free wi-fi everywhere in the hostel, a little bar, two terraces with view over the Medina's roofs, the best place to meet other travellers, have breakfast, read a book, or try some typical Moroccan plates cooked by our neighbour. We have a safe storage for your luggage at check-out day, and breakfast, towels and of course sheets are included in the price. We also have free maps of the city, board games, and the best information and recommendations about Tangier.

Perfect hostel for exploring Tangier. Close to everything, yet quiet at night. All the facilities you could ever want, and an amazing breakfast. Definitely recommend!

Great place to meet fellow travelers. We are not the hostel type of people (as a couple it is not very 'private'). There is no private shower or toilet, only 1 per floor. The roof terrace offers an amazing view of the harbour and Medina.

The Melting Pot is a hostel. It is inexpensive and what we needed for one night. The location is perfect for getting around the city and walking to the port if you are using the fast ferry from Spain. The double room is spacious and sufficient, but you could see through the crack in the door. The fan did not work well which was frustrating at night because we had to close the windows because of the noise outside. The room was hot, but it was also August. However, the hosts were very kind and super helpful with any questions we had. The wifi worked well and it was free. There is a little breakfast in the morning of local bread and jams with tea. And the rooftop view is amazing.

Really convenient hostel at the heart of the medina. Decent beds and a great rooftop for making new friends and getting tips on how to see the rest of Morocco.

We were welcomed very warmly and the receptionist was very helpful with suggestions of where to eat at a fairly late hour, as well as with information about getting to the train station. A map was provided and locations helpfully marked. The hostel has a nice, friendly atmosphere and wasn't too loud, as far as hostels go. We generally felt safe and the location was very central and convenient. There are plenty of signs pointing to the hostel, though these are not the most easy to spot when arriving after dark. The terrace offers a lovely view over the rooftops. We planned to get to breakfast shortly before it's scheduled end, which proved to be a mistake, as there was nothing left except jam, honey and butter. However, ground coffee and tea were available for making your own, and other guests offered us their leftover bread, so we managed. Common areas (and shared bathrooms) were clean and neat and we were able to store our bags after checkout, as well as hang out to kill our last hour or so before catching a night train. All in all, it was a good place to stay.
