It's a really great place with a perfect location, literally just a couple of minutes walk to the Sacurachinmachi station. There are lots of convenient stores and restaurants around. The area is really great and it takes on 4 stops to get quickly to Shibuya. The flat itself is in traditional japanese style which adds even more value to the stay in Tokyo. Sleeping on the futon was very comfortable. Aircon is very effective so if you are visiting in summer you won't have problems with a temperature. Overall it's a great place and I'm looking forward to come there again.

Hitomi and Chris were very great hosts. They communicated promptly and live nearby. They helped us figure out laundry (coin laundry down the main road East 3/4 kilometer), as well as bikes, trash pick up, etc. They have easy instructions around the unit for hot water, wifi, etc. The unit is a traditional basic Japanese apartment, with futon mats for beds, a small low square table and two floor chairs. It was an adjustment for us as Americans, but it ended up working fine, and we loved the neighborhood and the hospitality of our hosts.

The appartment is in a pleasant area convenient to shops and transport. We arrived on a cold evening and could not get the heating going as there were no instructions for the AC or the hot water in the kitchen. I messaged the host and got a quick reply that was no use as the AC controller didn't have the button that I was told to select. I filled a hot water bottle from the kettle and we spent our first night in Japan cold and miserable on cheap inferior futons wondering what we were thinking! It's not all bad. In the morning with the help of (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) we got the heating going and figured out the hot water and all was well. Apart from the bedding we enjoyed our four days in Setagaya

Response from Hitomi:
We are sorry that you could not enjoy the Japanese style of living and sleeping. From now on we will include English manuals for all key equipments. If you would require assistance please let us know and we can explain you everything personally. Our apartment is equipped with traditional Japanese futon consisting of Shikibuton (mattress), Kakebuton (blanket), Mofu (add. softer blanket) and Makura (pillow). The Japanese futons are meant to be rather firm compared to a western mattress since you are directly on the floor with no spring mattress in between. Therefore, our futons are not of inferior quality but reflect the Japanese mind of sleeping which is good for body and health. Our Shikibutons are made out of 100% cotton which provides a much better sleeping comfort compared to cheaper Shikibutons made from polyester. It was unfortunate that you could not enjoy this part of the Japanese culture. From now on we will provide explanations of how Japanese Futons are meant to be used and stored during daytime as well as what their advantages compared to Western beddings are. Thank you for your feedback. We always hope to improve our listing and provide our guest with a wonderful experience in Tokyo.

Thought I'd book as was close to a friends apartment. However turns out to be a very quick and easy easy 4 tube stops to Shibuya, and then you can go anywhere from there! I kept exploring Tokyo and getting back very easily. Some great noodle places, sushi, convenience store an easy short walk down the road. The is a great Ground Floor studio apartment with easy access to everything you need! Lots of little bits in the place you may find useful for your stay! Thank you.

I reserved the room for my parents who were visiting Japan for the first time. Chris and Hitomi were nice enough to let me see the apartment before hand. Everything in the room was as expected and Chris and Hitomi were really good hosts. The apartment is cosy, typical Japanese city apartment and was nice and clean. It is also in a very convenient location, relatively close to station from where you can get to Shibuya in 9 minutes by train. All in all everything went nice and smoothly and my parents had good time first time in Japan.

Interaction with guests

We will navigate our guests to the location. If the arrival falls onto a weekend, we will try to pick up the guest from the metro station and guide to the apartment. We are more than happy to provide information on the area and help our guests in any way.

Generally we will stay the "invisible" host but for your own safety we might check up on you if you are okay.

About Hitomi

We love our quite neighborhood right in front of the crazy Shibuya. Our shared passion goes to traveling, movies as well as outdoor activities. We love to meet new people and share with them the amazing Tokyo life. Be sure to get lot of hints from us (fantastic spots not well known to everyday guidebooks) as to how to spend your time in this great city.
