Nice apartment with high ceilings and classic molding, an antique bar, large rooms and private deck overlooking rear yard. Quiet and safe neighborhood - close to beach, shopping, dining, entertainment, bike trails and city life.
Classic Queen Anne Victorian building with high ceilings and classic molding throughout the apartment. Three beds - two in bedroom; one high end roll away bed can be used in Livingroom. Large kitchen if you want to cook and dine-in. Private deck, overlooking the yard, is a peaceful place to relax and unwind.
The apartment is 600+/- square feet (not including the enclosed room off of kitchen nor the back deck).
Note: (1) THERE IS NO CENTRAL HEAT. We have space heaters (we have enough for each room), electric blankets and lots of regular blankets if needed. (2) House was built in 1880 -- although upgraded, we ask that you do not plug a lot of appliances in at one time in the kitchen or bathroom. (3) If you want a modern space or a hotel feel, this may not be for you. If you like old Victorian homes, then you will love this apartment.
Key will be available through a lock box. Lockbox is on the screen door (not the one on the front door). We will leave the light on for you. You will receive the lockbox code before arrival time by email (through AirBnB)

Other things to note
Emergency Kits are in bathroom and enclosed rear room. Extra kitchen "gadgets", blankets and cleaning supplies are on enclosed rear room. Parking is tight at night. If you arrive late, you may find parking near the school (about a block away) on San Jose Avenue. Do not park across the street from the house in front of the Fire Hydrant -- you will get a $75+ ticket.
By making this reservation, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to the following "Good Guest Checklist: Rules
o Absolutely NO illegal drugs of any kind allowed.
o Absolutely NO smoking or vaping in the apartment or in the common areas of the property and if you do smoke outside, please be courteous and clean up your butts/ash.
o Please always lock the front door when you leave and be courteous to the neighbors.
• Unregistered Guests:
o Do not allow any unregistered guests in this apartment.
o OVERNIGHT GUESTS: All overnight guests must be approved in advance through the booking process and are subject to an additional fee as noted in the price.
o GUEST REGISTRATION: We require the names, age and gender identification of all guests in your party at the time you book (or soon thereafter). The guest in whose name the booking is made must be physically present when you arrive and must stay in the apartment for the duration of your stay.
o Please don't try to sneak in any extra guests. We live on site and have retired relatives who live on site as well, so we'll notice and then we'll all feel embarrassed when we ask you to leave w/o a refund.
o Please make sure to clean up any mess you make in the bathroom including cleaning up your hair (after a shower or brushing); flushing the toilet; and wiping up any spills.
o Please keep the kitchen clean.
o Please don't deep fry in the kitchen, it's a fire hazard. Stir frying is ok.
• Take Good Care of This Apartment:
o Please place coasters under bottles and glasses to protect the furniture.
o Please make sure to clean up spills, wipe up crumbs and wipe down surfaces and counters. If you don’t, rodents, pests and insects will be attracted into this apartment.
o Do not sit on the furniture in wet clothing.
o If you smoke or vape indoors (tobacco or otherwise), you will be required to leave w/o a refund and we will withhold charge you for cleaning costs to remove smoke odors and stains.
o Please use common sense and standards of common decency in this apartment, as 99% of people automatically do.
o Please place your garbage outside in the large cans (Grey for garbage and blue for recyclable).
• Checking Out:
o Please respect the space and leave it in good order for others to enjoy -- that allows us, to feel good sharing our space with you.
o When you check out, please leave the apartment as clean as you found it and leave “no trace” behind.
o If you stay after the checkout time without prior approval, you agree to pay a late checkout fee of $50 for any part of the first hour and $50 per hour for each additional hour as well as any additional costs incurred by the Host in facilitating the Guests' removal from the premises and/or caused by their late departure.
• No Pet Policy: If you arrive with a pet, you will be required to leave w/o a refund.
• QUIET TIME
o Please keep the noise down after 10pm and before 7am, especially outside.
o We are FIRM with quiet time after 10PM, as we go to work early in the morning or have early errands to run.
• Please Conserve:
o We provide limited complimentary coffee, tea and filtered water. Please use the filtered water only for drinking on premises.
o Use WATER and ELECTRICITY responsibly in an environmentally-friendly way.
• Liability and Insurance:
o Guest personally assumes all risks of property loss or damage, as well as physical injury or death that may exist in connection with use of the property and agrees to reimburse Host for damage / losses / theft they or a 3rd party (accompanying guest) incur related to a claim of damage, accident or injury during the use or occupancy of the property. [Guest assumes responsibility to protect personal Guest belongings or valuables by always keeping Apartment door locked against unauthorized entry!]
o Upon booking Guest automatically agrees to the need to arrange their own travel insurance coverage for PERSONAL LIABILITY and HEALTH INSURANCE.
o You acknowledge that there is No parking on property - neighborhood only has street parking which fills up by late night – you can find a park but you may have to walk a block or more to the house if you arrive late at night.
o Do not park across the street in front of the fire hydrant. You will get a $75+ ticket.
• ADDITIONAL CHARGES:
o No dirty dishes. If we clean dishes $45
o Strip your bed: Strip your sheets on departure and place in hamper provided. We will charge $45 fee for bed change if you choose to opt out.
o Please pack out your trash or take out trash to outside container provided. We will charge $45 for taking out YOUR trash, including food "gifts" if left in refrigerator, room or apartment.

I work hard and play harder.....that is my life motto. Love camping, reading and travel. My dream job is hosting a show like Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown and Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive Ins and Dives.... hmmm... throw in a refurbished tiny home, mid-sized bus.. and I would be in heaven. I need to make this happen some-how. For my employers... no worries.... I can teach and consult remotely.. I promise!
I was born and raised in Oakland but have lived in NY, LA, Oklahoma (long story!!) and Boston (fun story!). Now living in Alameda -- which is a great town that is close enough to the action but I can get away and re-energize here.
I am pretty laid back.. I do not hover but am available if you need me. If you want to hang out and see the town...ask me, I know all the good spots.
Five things I can't live without -- my daughter, music/dancing, books, taco trucks and road trips (yes.. I know that is 6... but you can't have music without dancing.. right?).
